Silly Question
My civic is on its way out. The motor is constantly having problems and frankly, I'm very frusterated with it.
Right now, I'm looking at 2 options.
a. Sell it and get a new Echo Hatchback Base model
b. Put a new engine into it.
Im inclined to go with option B, but I don't have time to go running around looking for all the parts and I was wondering if there is any shops (perferably north of toronto ie. newmarket, barrie.. with the exception of Canspeed), that I could just tell them what I would like and they go and source out a new engine in good condition and all the parts needed and do the swap for me? I have no time with 2 jobs and school to do it myself nor the patients and shop/tools. I know I would pay a premium for getting someone else to do all the sourcing and do the work, but its alot easier for me. Also I'm not looking at going to a B series or anything, just an SI d16 with vtec or a plain d16.. All I need now is a motor in amazing shape that will make my car like new (and run for a long time without expensive repairs) and get me to school. I'm not looking for a race car.
And also, what are the average costs for a job like that? Motor and tranny swap. (an auto to manual conversion would be nice at the same time too, my auto dx tranny blows.)

a civic is never on it's way out... like 1st gen Saturns, Civics dont' die, they get killed.
all your Civic needs is a new lease on life... and it's generally always cheaper to fix a car than it is to replace it. depending on your level of how-to prowness.

REV in Barrie sucks. Bunch of kids running the joint who can't even install gauges properly. I would reccomend ALTEC. Short drive down the 400 from newmarket to Blackcreek. Joe is a good guy, shop is clean, he is quick and will provide you with a good engine. I had my 99 LUDE engine replaced there and have had no problems since.
