yup
but IMO don't bother with performance on the d17 engines
save your money for a k swap or boost or both

there are EX in canada too...
in canada, there is just 1 extra trim level than the US
canadian stealerships tries to rip people off a little more buy having an EX and Si in which Si has the sporty stuff... EX has some sort of extra stuff over the DX/LX, but not the sporty stuff from an Si...
but i think later on EX are no longer EX, they rather make it SE
my friend drives a 97 EX 4dr i also got a friend who drives a 99 SE, both are the same haha... exchange the minor changeover of headlights and tailights, and front bumper and the climate control

Also, with the 6th gen coupe, there was a version called an EX in the US which was equivalent to our Si so, what JPWEND!! ([US] EX and [Canadian] Si are the same model) posted was technically correct. All US 6th and 7th gen EX had VTEC.
Also, the '97 EX (the equivalent in the US was LX) and '99 SE were not exactly the same (of course I am not including the change points that were made on all the 99/00 from 96-98). The EX had power window but the SE had the manual cranks. The SE had keyless entry standard but the EX (even 99/00) had that as an option. There were also some other minor differences...
Generally, the "SE" versions are optioned up LX models....with some differences to the EX models.
