i was fooling around trying to make seatbelt beep go away and they fixed that under warranty too
(i pretended not to know what was going on both times though, but they arent stupid and knew it lol yeyeye)

I've always followed my maintenance schedules on all of my cars. Sure it's a little bit of money, but I like the peace of mind of knowing exactly is going on with my cars. I think it might also help with the re-sale of the car by showing that you have taken care of it.

Quit whining. At $175 plus taxes, you're paying for about TWO hours at normal shop rates plus oil and filter. That's not unreasonable for the work involved in that required maintenance inspection.

If something is broken, it's a warranty issue costing you nothing, assuming that you haven't obviously abused the car.

You chose to buy a new car, and that buys you a certain freedom of worry about repair costs. But proper inspection and maintenance is the best proactive measures you can take to make the car last and avoid unnecessary repair costs later..

Did you really expect that there would be no other costs beyond gas, insurance and loan/lease payments?

get any mechanic to have a quick look at allthe **** that is required at the set intervals and he can write that **** up on a receipt for you, charge you a fraction of what they want and you will have no warranty issues.

if you have a civic, id say do your c at ~32k and your d at ~48k... everything else just do an oil change. good thing if you have 04/05 civic i very very rarely have any of those cars coming back for warranty issue. 06 civic... different story.

the advisor will always recommend stuff to you, some you should do some are just a waste of money (but doesnt hurt to do) it is his/her job. Note which advisor is the chillin guy/girl too (like me lol) and it'll probably benefit you down the road.
sorry for the late reply...i do have an 05 civic! and i will follow that skipping thing your saying...i will just get an oil change then your my hero man

thanks so much!

i got about 40,000 kms on my 05 civic, never got any of the packages done, just oil changes

and they check the brakes and stuff down there...cheaper than a package service....

if you dont want to follow the maintenace recommendations
just make sure you do everything your supposed to do according to the owners manual (fluid changes, belts, etc.)

I recommend you atleast do the rotation, plus oil change. Personally I do all required maintenance plus...

brake service - every 12,000 km
tire rotation - every 10,000 km
oil and filter - every 6,000 km
alignment - twice a year (at change from summer/winter tires)
air filter - once per year
Tranny fluid change - once per year
Brake flush - every 1.5 years
coolant and power steering flush - every 2 years ( I should do my PS soon)
Full tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter) - every 70,000 km

replace wear and tear items as required.

hey rj

although after reading, i see that you can skip the type b... but then imo, i suggest you if possible, follow everything, because that's the purpose i see in buying a brand new car... you can follow every single inspection/maintenance with records (that's something we can't do with used cars) so if i have a brand new car and i'm first owner, i would definitely try to follow everything at all cost... i understand your situation of being broke, because i was like that on many occassional and you just simply can't get the $ out of somewhere. so i say skip b right now... but should try to maybe save up $10-$20 every month or something for maintenance purpose, that's what i do nowadays... i try to save $50 bux each month, just so something is wrong, i have $$ to fix the car. i see we both have to learn budgeting somehow haha... because i'm learning it right now... try to set my budget and put aside some fundings for emergency...

however, try to apply for a credit card for emergency purpose too... try not to bring it around then you won't be using it as much... but when emergency happens, its quite handy at times =)

that's my opinion... i hope it wasn't anything offensive because i understand your situation as well because i was once real broke and had no money to even do an oil change haha...

I skipped B too I think .. I only went back to Honda for the first package, then just oil change after that.
Perhaps I should get my wheels aligned this summer with oil change ..
