I didn't think it would even start, nevermind move forward without the clutch being depressed. I believe all Hondas and Acura have a safety device that prevents the car from starting.

Is it possible you "accidentally" drove forward?

Eitherway, I'd say your fault because you were behind the wheel and should have been more careful.

sorry man...but gotta go with the other guys on this one...shouldve checked and the shop is going to say the same...but at the sametime a shop isnt suppose to allow customers in the back just for this reason..so you could try to get urself out of this... if the shop respected u enough to allow you in the shop you should take the blame...i dont know but thats just me...

my 2cents

Im not sure about who is at fault...but im sure they will try to pin it on you as i think their insurance will be void because customers should not be in the same area as the car.

YOUR FAULT bottom line...like who starts their car without pressing the clutch in or at the very least making sure its in neutral?

unless the car has the clutch switch bypassed the car won't start without having your foot on the clutch. But i always leave cars in 1st (as a safety precaution for if the ebrake fails), just always make sure to toss it in neutral before starting it.
I'd say its your fault for smackin the car up, you where behind the wheel, lesson learned the hard way i guess.
Sh1tty deal either way.

when you were paying for the mechanic to do the job...why would get involved in any part of the overall process at all? i would only get in the car once its all over and done and the mechanic has tested it as well.

this actually happened at my shop. Buddy hit our work table. He was at-fault, but he offered to fix the table and knew he was at fault.

But I wonder since customers are NOT allowed in the shop for insurance reasons, who is really at fault.

You shouldnt of been in the car inside the shop in the first place. Either way I think its your fault
