that's true, wasn't as big as i thought it would be, but that's what made it BETTER!!! we were crazy close to them eh joker?

in fact, my buddy got hit by a pebble on his forehead courtesy of the twins, that's how close we were. they were nuts, but too bad drifter x (komatsu) couldn't make it. but either way, both cars were there and it was a great show! 2morro should be better though!!!

here are some good pics to show u guys what u missed out on today!

"crazy foot in the air, one arm holding the door, left foot on the gas drift!"
-damn lucky fan, he won a raffle to ride with chunky bai for one round.
- he's coming straight for us!!!

"Signal Miracle Drift engagement!"
"japanese umbrella girls? shyea right!"
"wtf is that toyota doing there?"

It was a gorgeous day today. The event was a lot of fun. It is very refreshing to see something other than the boring rice-filled shows that we call DKN and Importfest.

well thats simple.. I happen to know how much they are paying to rent the parking lot I also know how much an entry fee is for a competitor .... which easily accounts for the first fee and them some. I also know that they are trying to grow interest in this "sport" here in north america. therefore to grow the competition here and the popularity of it making it free would have been a smarter business choice.

Also since this is a for profit company, I really don't see the need to pick a place known for grassroots motorsports and the free spectating and box it in and charge admission.... personally I think if your a for profit company they shouldn't be hunting down amatuer motorsports arenas and reducing the number of weekends the parking lots are available for those amatuer motorsports.

forgive me if I'm blunt but paying to watch something compared to actually participating in something is like eating **** compared to eating a gourmet meal.... and of course most here haven't tried the gourmet meal yet.

look at them ripping their cars on the parking lot and people that do a burn out at RONA get kicked out. no ******* diffrence if this is a show or not they are still creating rubber marks all over the parking lot.

There's definitely a difference between the yahoos who do burnouts at Rona and the guys that flew in from japan with their sil-80s to do controlled drifting and put on a show for the crowd.

Personally I'd rather spend 12 bucks and see people who know what they're doing put on an amazing drifting show in a controlled environment (brampton sports centre) then watch some stupid kids who think they're cool by burning out in a parking lot and have a chance of hitting you or your car.

I remember seeing a vid of some kid that was showing off in his MR2 by doing a drift or a 180 or something and he ended up knocking out a jetta, funny yes, but it sure shows the stupidity of the people who try to show off what they can't do. IMO

Even if they paid nothing for the parking lot, you don't even have a remote clue on what they've spent to get this event up and running. Being as the organizers are good friends of mine, I know a lot of the details, and let me tell you, it was NOT cheap to put this event on. It is way more than putting on an auto-x or lapping day. I will leave it at that.

The difference is that the owners of the parking lot at Rona don't want the punkasses there, and the owners of the Brampton Centre are getting paid for them to be there. Big difference.

Who ended up winning the amateur drift comp? The dude with the 89-94 black 240sx with the massive FMIC? He seemed to be the one that was gonna win, based on his previous runs.

The show was amazing. This is the best event I've been to in a really long time. I was at Importfest yesterday and it was garbage compared to this. I was there working, but as an enthusiast I rather pay $12 to see a wicked show by smart responsiable and cool people, than go into a stadium pay $20 to see a bunch of ******* Gino's and their rides from Woodbridge and such which I can see any weekend for the cost of a coffee at Tims.

Anyone who compares this to doing burnouts in some parking lot is truly ignorant. The guys from Driftnation did an amazing job and are truly pioneers in bringing drifting into Canada. Alberto and his crew did a kickass job.

BTW, it's much more interesting to shoot an event like this than the boring car shows that are all the same.

PS: I was the big bald guy with the TV camera wearing the red and white pitcrew jersey.

Man had I known you were part of the shooting crew I wouldve asked you to get my closer to the action lol.

I got my video xfered, its 450mb tho, 45 mins or so of the event, 2 signal runs, the bikes and the amateurs.

I can't stress how much fun this show was, but my face got burnt from standing in the sun lol.

I wanted to buy a signal T-shirt but I didnt have any cash and there was no Re-entry (didnt understand why if they gave us wristbands)

Ill throw a pic up won't be very good quality cause it was shot with a Hi8 camcorder.
