Searching for Good Mechanic [TORONTO]

I have 03 Honda Civic LX coupe Manual
Hitting ~ 111,000 km, I think I have to replace my timing belt + water pump
I also have little problem with tranny, making weird noises when clutch
is out (sound goes away when clutch is pressed in), so I think I need some major works done.

I went to several places
One dealer wanted to charge $1200 for just tranny, other guy asked me
to change tranny fluid, etc.. all speaking different words

I am desperately looking for a mechanic who I can really trust

Reasonable price range is also necessary

Thank you

for the newer civics i think the manual says its suppose to be done at 160 000
the job usualy goes for 500 parts and labour
timing belt , water pump , valve cover gasket , cam and crank seal, idler pully , thermostat , p/s belt/ alt ac belt , valve adjustment

for the trans its usually the input shaft bearing that makes that noise
just replace ment of the bearing will cost about 800
if you wanna replace the clutch the parts cost about 260
l

Take it to iGarage in markham. I live in the west end of Toronto (basically etobicoke) and I still drive all the way there cause Ivan is great and his prices are REALLY good.

http://www.igarage.ca/

Call him for a quote. I don't know how much he would charge for a timing belt, but he did a clutch for me (properly with a clutch kit not just replacing the disc, including resurfacing flywheel, changing tranny fluid, etc etc) for 550 which is really good. (This was last year or 1.5 years ago so don't quote me on the price, it's just to give you an idea).

x101 on Ivan
great great guy, pleasent to talk to, knows his honda's, doesn't do hack jobs. Doesn't 'practice' on your car.

i remember i took my bmw to him to fix something, he looked at it, and said "honestly man, ive never done this and I don't want to mess up your car, maybe you should take it to someone else"

he's earned my business forever

Yeah, he's EXTREMELY honest. I referred my friend to him for a timing belt job for a beater that she just bought (which would've obvoiusly earned him some nice $ in labor), and he said, "I can do the timing belt for you but the engine doesn't seem to be in great shape, since you jsut got it drive it for a while and see if it burns a lot of oil, because i don't want you to waste your $ changing the timing belt if the engine is about to die". And his prices are ridiculously good.

It's called a garage and your own tools.
