Scam Alert - FYI

For those that know bout this, don't worry, but for those that don't... read on!

This happened today in Brampton at the local mall, around 2:00pm

It was a grey van that pulled up to me as I was parking and the guys offered to sell me 'great speakers for my home'. dunno why, but they thought I had cash. I just said no and continued parking the car. They drove off eventually but not after I tried to mess with em to give it to me for free.

Be careful, since apparently these freak's have been running this thing for years and lots of people have been suckered.

Check out the link for actuall stories: http://www.scamshield.com/default.asp

BTW, it was a greyish van, about 5-8 years old, Chevy or some domestic. Plates were 483-EGC. (Not 100% sure on the last 2 letters)

Bastards, if they try something like this again, I'm gonna have fun with em.

yeah i heard of this one too. looks like the real ripoff is that they claim that the speakers they are selling are worth thousands when really they are worthless junk. so as long as you know your audio there's no way you should be suckered into buying it. you'd basically have to be an idiot. the good thing is at least they arent selling imitation speakers as the real thing.

I love those trucks. My buddy picked up a Versace leather jacket for $400 bills, and it's genuine.

Another time he got some Samurai speakers that are worth over a grand for $200 brand new and in the plastic. They sound awsome.

How come I never get these deals? Not once have I been approached, or seen one.

Do you look like the kind of guy that would buy stuff from the back of a Van?

I've been approached a number of times, even when I was in my teens.

Its actually wasn't approached by these guys for a few years until a month ago a couple of dudes pulled up to me in a McDonalds Parking Lot on the border of Fergus/Guelph

I've had these guys come up to me like two times in the past year and they've given me that same story that these speakers are worth thousands and how his shipping guy put too many in the van and he's willing to sell them for 1/10 of the cost...etc

I looked at the speakers and honest to god...I nearly blew up in laughter in front of the guy. When I see audio, I know what's the real deal and what's trash. This guy thought cuz I'm young and probably dont' know about speakers..........well lemme tell you buddy...you ain't scamming me cuz i've been into audio for years.

He then gave me this advertisement that looks like he made himself with Microsoft Publisher with the "retail prices" on it ranging from $1000-$5000.

I'm like buddy...are you trying to rip me off...first of all, those speakers aren't brand name, they dont' even exist in the real world. Professional speakers aren't made of paper, they're made of polyurethane or aluminum (the cone part). Second, they dont' look $1000, they look $20. You take me for a fool? He got all offended and made it look like I hurt his feelings. I only wish I had a cop in the area to bust his ***. Sick of these losers.

Well, that's my story for you.

They haven't come near me since then...hahaha...I think they got my point...if not...I'll have to think of another strategy

Just remembered....he even asked me if I had money and me and if not that he'd go to the bank with me.... dream on

Actually i couldn't rip them, cuz he laminated them....these guyz try to look good...but dont' realize how stupid they look in the end.

Should of ripped out the spark plug cables and called the cops...sigh...could of been a nice Kodak moment
