saving some gas

i can get about 650 to 700 in the civic , mostly highway and some city. However i have to be driving like a grandma
in the mazda 3 ( 2.3 lt) i can get 550 to 600 on highway , however in the city i can only do 450 tp 500.
However the maxda 3 is automatic so there isnt much i can do to improve the gas mileage. I tend to use the mazda for long drives because it drives amazing , but i use the civic as my daily car to drive
