Safety Question(s)

Hey thanks for looking.

Question. Do EG's (Civic's 1992-1995) sedans or hatch, have air bags?

I'm in the process of purchasing one and I find it important to have this safety. What's the answer? Also, would appreciate any feedback/opinions.

If they don't can I install one that will be fully functional?

I don't think they do. And if they don't then no, you can't add it. At least, I wouldn't. They require sensors and a module for proper operation. You could probably install all that, but you may not have the sensors in the correct position or the system may not be setup to function properly as if it was installed in a vehicle it was designed for. In other words, I wouldn't fully trust it to function properly 100% of the time.

Buying an eg eh? Project car???

Yea bro still planning that project. But considering my safety as this will be my winter beater as well as my project car. It's something I really need to consider as many Transport Trucks drive through the 401 between London and Guelph (Guelph being the university I'm going to).

All canadian 1992 civics do not have an air bag regardless of model.

In 1993 they put air bags in the si hatch and coupe. I'm not 100% sure about the sedan, but most likely the ex-v got one, and perhaps even the ex, check to make sure though.

In 1994 and 1995 the si hatch was dropped and they added a passenger side air bag to the si coupe as for the sedans check to make sure but most likely the top of the line ex-v probably got it.

To make sure check for the srs light in the dash, and check for the srs lable on the steering wheel. The sun visor might also tell you. Also you'll find lots of yellow wiring around the steering colunm and fuse box.

Hope this helps.
