Rusting lugs not covered under warranty
Bull'ish!
All 16 lugs and 4 locks are starting to rust. If my car sits for a few days, the rust runs off the lugs and onto the wheels. Not that big of a deal, it just washes off, but the lugs look like crap.
Stopped by my dealer today, who in the past have been great about warranty claims. The Service Advisor told me they are not covered because "they are not an integral part of the vehicle" and that wear-and-tear causes the damage and rust.
Integral part? They hold the damn wheels on!
Wear-and-tear? The impact guns they shouldn't even use to loosen and tighten the bolts damages the lugs.
I'm going back tomorrow for an oil change and I'm going to bitch at the Service Manager. Stay tuned.

Meh, who cares.
Lug nuts rust because when you tighten and loosen them it strips the protective coating off, and they're exposed to the elements. You can't really expect a dealer to do anything about that, ALL lugs do that eventually.
I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I made a thread on here about Toronto Honda before that refused to give my friend a free oil change (it was a promotion) because it had been "only" 5000km since her last oil change, yet that's what they wrote on her sticker thingy and she was just past that. The guy said to come back in a few more months (when the promotion was over) and it would be like 10k+ on dino oil, so he could get out of doing a free oil change (which costs them what... 15 dollars? 10?).
Lexus has a service bulletin where they are supposed to replace brake pads on IS250/350s with a "low dust" version because the originals produce a ridiculous amount (wheels are black after like 2-3 days). I called Northwest about it and the guy rudely said "no we're not giving you free brake pads" even though that's exactly what they're supposed to do. So **** Northwest Lexus, guess where I'm never going again?
On the other hand Lexus on the Park or something is an awesome dealer, couldn't be happier with my experience there. They gave me a loaner and I ran some errands while waiting for my car (ie bought beer and vodka for the weekend) and the guy even got someone to help me bring that stuff from the loaner to my car, how cool is that? And they were SUPER nice even though I just went there to get some recalls done and didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.

My Odyssey's starter died last december, it's only a 2-3 yr old car. It JUST passed warranty at the time (milage was high). But regardless, any engineer/mechanic will tell you a starter should last much longer than 2-3 yrs. Honda Dealership refused to cover anything under warranty, no grace whatsoever. So my dad called Honda Canada. And after 15-30 mins on the phone. They eventually gave us something along the lines of... a free starter and 40% off the labour (which was something like 6ish hrs?). Rusting lugs will be much harder to convince them that it is a manufacturer's defect, or premature wear and tear (unless it was right off the lot). But you may be able to make them discount the price of a new set. Or you could go aftermarket aluminium alloy?

I noticed the lugs after inspecting my recently curbed wheel. I'm just nitpicking really. I was planning on buying a set of S2000 CR lugs anyway. They are anodized black from the factory.
