the difference is on the internet people will find out your information with the intention of doing something to your car as they know who you are and what your car looks like from the picture.
the amount of people that see your car and want to steal it will be much greater on the internet. just my opinion

exactly....

say someone is like "I have a fully built ITR, with _____ and ______ and ______ and _____", if you were a thief you would probably track down that car instead of risking taking a stock car that isn't worth much

People need to keep their goodies to themselves if they don't want to get JACKED. Done.

but if you're driving people won't know what you have under the hood. but if someone rambles on a forum saying i have this and this, and a guy says "oh ****, i really want that, i have his plates and i know what he has" then he will more likely steal it because he now has the plates and can track down the car.

i still like to block my plate in pics... its just a sense of security... people do what they want...

but i agree sometimes blocking your plate in pics won't help much if someone really wants to steal your car, they will

but blocking your plate reduces the risk of your car being easily track down and jack'd away...

people on the roads to see your plates, but would they pay attention to it? they pay attention to the road... and people on the road normally dunno what's under your hood or in your car... but people know what you have through internet because people tend to like to list their goodies on the web, that's why they wanna block their plates, so they can flash their goodies while reducing the risk of car being jack'd...

nevertheless, this thread is just a rant, this topic is very two-face, can't really say which way is right... coz we all have different preferences...

its like, i don't believe in home alarm because they are useless... but many people still install them... same idea... sense of security...

Ok, you block your plate in a pic for that sense of security, but they still know what your car looks like know, and becaue of that they can still get it if they want. Yes it mite make it a lil bit harder to find, but they just need to look for the car that looks like that in the pics.

P.S. I am glad to here what every has to say on this.

As many ppl on here who own the #1 stolen car in canada (the 99-00 SiR) we know it's nerve-racking enough everytime we go out we wonder, is my car gonna be there when I get back....

It just helps that much more to cover the plates......millions of ppl could see your plates on the net, but only a few see it on the street. I can garantee that car theifs brows forums like this in search of their next victims....

just my $0.02...

What's interesting is people will hide their license plate on forums when they post pics, yet at Car Shows your plate is easily seen. Plus thieves have a great opportunity to look at your car setup, security (especially backup sirens if they are underneath the car). Many car shows judge on the cleanliness of the underside of your car so it wouldn't be unusual to have people peaking under there.

If I were competing in a car show, I'd pull my plates, for reasons you just mentioned.

Also, was at the j-body bash this summer which 80% of the ppl who come, compete in the show and shine.....most ppl pulled their plates.....partly cause a plate looks ugly on a nice custom show car..

But yeah I see your point, and some ppl do leave their plates on at car shows.
