Stay away from the Accent and all hyundais in general.

There is a reason why these cars are so cheap. Unless it's an 06, don't touch it. I've seen many Hyundais with blown trannies @ like 60K. Buying an older hyundai accent would be the equiv. of buying a ford focus. The new hyundais are under-rated, the old ones are actually poorly built cars.

You will regret it.

I do value your input but after my expierence with cars, these things can happen to any kind of car, not just accents in general. I owned a 2001 Kia Rio with two blown trannies, my uncle owns a 2005 Ford Free Star and that had a blown tranny.

I wont get this car unless it has a warranty and it does come with one. And of course after I test drive it and have a few people look at it.

Uhh I don't agree with you. All the cars you named there are CRAP. The Kia is just as much a piece O crap as the Hyundai. And well, ford? ford is pretty much a synonym for crap.

Trust me, don't buy a Hyundai. You think you are saving, you are actually throwing your money away.

Speak to any hyundai owner that doesn't have an 04 or newer.

Oh and those dealer warranties? They don't mean any. CarGuard, Lubrico and whatever else ther e is. They have some great fine print that allows them to void any warranty work if they feel the car has been abused / oil starved / not properly maintained. That too, some only cover parts, and you have to go to select shops, which charge retarded labour rates.

Don't think for one second that you are protected by any of that.

Thanks for your input.

But I disagree. Ford is definitly not the synonym for crap either lol... My family has owned nothing but fords for the last 20 years and they have been nothing but reliable. This is the first one that has had troubles.

To each their own I guess. I can't afford an expensive car and with my credit I have to go with what I can get and who will lend me money. Im only going to test drive the Hyundai, not going to buy it.

connie, don't go for a hyundai. it's true that you get what you pay for and i personally would rather spend a bit extra on a car that i can trust and i know is safe in the case of an accident. it's always better to spend a bit more money and be safe, then to spend less and possibly loose your life. just my opinion though

You may be right..

I guess there's another reason why ford is going down the crapper..

Either way, I wish you all the best with whatever decision you make. I know how hard it is, I just went through this for like 6 months until I found the best bang for buck.

Go to the autotrader site and do a search for Honda cars in your price range. There are some there that are at acceptable kms and better overall deals than the cars you were looking at.

Furthermore, DO NOT buy a car from any dealer or even private for that amount of money that isn't e-tested or certified. When you're in the thousands of dollars, you should require that it's e-tested AND certified. If those needs are met, it is wise to then get the VINs and do a car fax on the car. Whichever cars you look at, the blackbook value lets you get a good gauge of what price is reasonable etc.

It's up to you if you want to take any of that advice, though.

If I had known that you were looking for a car earlier I would've told you about the Civic this lady at work was selling. 97 Civic 4DR, automatic, with 191K for 3K. She had it in the autotrader for less than one day before she sold it.

if you can find a decent corolla or civic thats not in toronto, go for something along the lines of that, and if the car isnt from toronto, mileage means nothing, in rural areas, everything is far away, to and from the grocery store is sometimes 30-40 km, and the whole time, the car is just revving at like 26-2700 rpm, so thats not to much stress, compared to constantly revving to 3.5 and shifting up and down.....
