In simple terms.....a mixing of two items to become one.

Ie......putting a B16 into a North American 5th gen hatch would qualify it as a hybrd.

Wow! The information gatherer doesn't know something? Someone call CNN!
Jason, Diamond Star Motor's is (was) a joint venture between Chrysler and Mitsubishi (which, by the way means "three stars" in Japanese). This was formed when Chysler was Chrysler (not DaimlerChrysler like it is now) and Mitsubishi motors was independent (not a part of DaimlerChrysler as it is now). Since they are all part of the same company now, I guess it isn't much of a joint venture any more.
Diamond Star Motor's is a factory in Normal, Illinois where they build the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Chrysler Sebring Coupe (originally, they build the Eclipse, Dodge Laser and Eagle Talon).

Clear as mud?
