probably a dumb question....

would a motor and tranny fit in the back of a '92 hatch with rear seats removed? and more importantly is it a good idea?

SimpleG 25-May-2007 03:07 AM

yes it can be done
im sure it has been done more times that u can count

imported_Crazed 25-May-2007 03:11 AM

szuberi 25-May-2007 01:41 PM

some folks in US swapped a six cylinder motor in a CRX or some 88-91 civic....it went in the rear of course. lots of $$$$ and resources invested.

shlammed 25-May-2007 02:21 PM

No question is dumb, how are people gonna learn without asking questions.

When you have to do that emergency stop to keep from rear-ending the car in front of you, where will that engine go?

Worse, if you don't manage to successfully make that emergency stop and you do rear-end that car in front of you, where will that engine go.

I don't think we need to get into the mechanics of a t-bone or head-on crash.

imported_kIeRaN 27-May-2007 07:51 PM

thats why u strap it down...

Mythbusters did a little thing on how a Kleenex box could kill you if you get in a crash at (x) speed. (Can't remember, but it was maybe 40 or 50). ANYWAY, they over do it and the put a hatchet on the "rear deck" of their test car and the hatchet went THROUGH some ballistic gel and through the wood box that was holding the gel. Good luck if you get into an accident on your way home. Your head will fit nicely as the new CAI. Open your mouth wide so the K&N will fit!
