Price check, on JDM Black Housing

Do you think 450 CDN for a pair of JDM 99' CTR is a fair price? Or screw it and do a simple DIY?

BB - How can you tell other than looking for the ballasts if CTR units are HID's. Ed is going to Japan and if he can find some CTR HID's I will get him to pick them up.

Haha, never mind HIDs were on ITRs not CTRs. Pure brainfart on my part. Sorry!

I got a little carried away back there. Money should be spent on better things, like my new suspension than a pair of light housing...

you need a drop and rims before proceeding ANY further. TRUST THIS: rims are the single biggest visual improvement on ANY car. Tires that come with a purchase of rims, when chosen carefully can also help handling immensly.

That's a good price for CTR headlights since last I saw they where going for 450US.
But you can get the effect for much cheaper, the diffences are: black housing, bit of tint to the housing glass and a socket for city lights. All this can be done diy for cheaper then what ctr lights cost.

I still don't understand what the hell that "city light" does...

Like my lights are on while I drive, very dim and yellow. When I turn on the head lights, they become brighter.

Is that what city light is?

city lights, as I understand it is just lighting up your headlight housing when your driving say downtown. I have seen people with blue, red, green etc.

im probably wrong about what they are but oh well, check ebay.

I think one night, I saw this IS300 with little blue light bulb in the front, small enough and yet, noticeable. Maybe that's what it is.

I think its like a parking light sorta thing. You know the first click when you turn on your headlights when your corners light up? I believe that is linked to city lights, dunno why you'd ever use them but they're there.

Chris is correct, city lights light up the headlight housing.

I remember seeing a "city light" kit on ebay, basically you just choose a color and install the bulb and voila. I think Greg is right about it being the first click when your corners go on, I guess they dont want you using your actual headlights in the city so on the first click you are still visible but not using the actual headlight bulb.

In JDM land it's so well lit at night you can drive around with city lights on, hence the name. They are the first click on the headlight stalk. Second click turns on the headlights themselves. Also the corner light/turn signals do not light up at all unless your signaling to turn. This applies to 5th and 6th gen Civics.
I'm a JDM *****.....though I deny it.
