power steering
What up. I'm just wondering If you can simply take the belt off the power steering pump, so the car would have the same feel as a car not stock with power steering.. I'm just wondering if there would be any advese effects if I did this.
Thanks

The steering racks in power steering equiped civics is different from that of the non-power steering equiped ones. They use a different steering ratio so the ratio and therefore the effort would be different than that of a non-power steering equiped car.
I can't say that it would give your more steering feel when your driving as when the tires are rolling, the difference would be too slight to tell.
Only point taking off the power steering would be to get an arm workout in parking lots. Consider yourself lucky it's a civic if your going to do this and not a 5 ton truck.
Been there, done that. my $0.02

Ideally you should replace it with a no ps rack.. it's harder to steer with a PS rack not hooked up. doesn't feel as solid either.
