street racing may seem cool when you are young, but as you grow up, you begin to see it in a different perspective.

i think there should be a "zero torelance" policy implemented on street racing. i am not sure where i stand yet on vehicle confiscation and crushing yet.

driving is a privlidge, not a right, and if someone has no regard for the health and saftey of themselves or others on the road, they do not belong on the road.

one day, when i have a family and kids, i dread to think that they may be on the road with some little punk endangering their lives.

your sending this to the attorney general's office and major newspapers in ontario will not make a difference. we already elected officials to think for us. that is how our democracy works.

the punishment is way too much right now compared to drunk driving. drunk driving causes more death then street racing. yes, the cars should be seized, but they should be used for future education on street racing

what are you talking about here? i don't feel threatened in any way by any possible anti-streetracing legislation. how do you figure i will pay for their crimes?

its a very simple concept, don't break the law and you won't be punished.

i;m not trying to sound righteous and claim i never break laws. just know the consequences you may face if you do break them.

"Finally, just last month, Ontario Attorney General Michael Bryant stated that any cars found to have been adapted for street racing can will be confiscated, even if no charges have been laid, and no race has occurred. All it takes is one tip and police have the authority to seize and destroy these vehicles."

I have issues with this....because of this

Charter of Rights & Freedoms

Legal Rights

8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

I don't street race, so I agree "lock them up and throw away the key". But it would be a real problem for me if I didn't commit a crime, that someone would come and take my car away on a tip. That could be something that a malicious person who doesn't like me could do. You never know what vendetta someone has for you. Its the only car I have and I need it to live.

I would sue the police and government if that happened thats for sure.

key word: UNREASONABLE

also do not forget that the charter or rights and freedoms has a non-withstanding clause, which allows the government to ignore the charter

If I see a 92 hatchback with visible "street racing mods", I wouldnt call that an "unreasonable" search, would you?

here is my view....
dont street race and make sure your mods are legal and you will be fine even if you get pulled over.

Yes.. the government is trying to stop an industry.. a source of employment, cash flow, and taxes.. They would rather put everyone on welfare..

i suggest you read some sort of intellectual book instead of worrying about getting pulled over for your eurolights.

If they educated drivers and made a actual law that made a difference such as, driving in the left lane on a 400 series highway if you are not passing is a 3 point ticket and 300 dollars.

That would save lives.

When idiots sit in the left lane driving 100 on the dot it agrivates other motorists and causes them to make agressive lane changes.

Street racing has caused somthing like 38 confirmed deaths since 1998 or 1999.

Drunk driving has caused thousands, infact lastnight I was nearly run off the road by a drunk driver, literly, not some old man bull****.

He followed me for over 10 km tailgating me, then tried to pass me up a hill and swerved into me.

I called the cops, they said, we will send someone out, werent even concerned.

Sorry but I have never had a "street racer" (ignorant term used incorrectly that needs to be changed to agressive driver) do this to me.

^ there is a law about driving in the left lane! lol
They had a biltz a couple years ago just to ticket people who cruised in the left lane. The week after they were ticketing drivers who stayed in the right lane when the was a pulled of emergency vehicle.

to me, I find that it is brutal that people in north toronto and area are ruining it for everyone...all these accidents and tradgedies(sp) are happening in toronto area...however it is effecting people everywhere....we have yet to have a death in london within the last 5 years caused from street racing. now because of the issues in toronto, the police are going to "crack down" in london. which is BS as we have 0 problems with this!!! so now...we have to look over our shoulders if we go anywhere...

I was in toronto 2 weeks ago to get my car fixed (alarm and tuning) and I couldnt count on both hands how many times my plates were run! and police were going out of their way to get behind me. I wasnt speeding at all...I was accellerating from 2nd to 5th gear...never over 60 on the city streets. why should I have to be so worried to come to toronto to have work done on my car?
I think before they go and steal someones car cause really its theft, they should look at the persons record. I personally have a completley clean record and I love my super cheap insurance. why would I jeapordize that for a stupid race???

anyways....thats my thoughts....certain individuals are effecting not just torontonians, but everyone everywhere...which is not right!
