Possible downtime of TCC Site
The torontocivics.com site is hosted on servers in Houston and as the result of Category 5 Hurricane Rita there may be a period of downtime if the area gets hammered and all power is lost.
The Data Center does have backup power which could last a few weeks but I am concerned all the upstream providers (the people that provide the bandwidth) outside the data center do not.
Thank you in advance for your patience if the site does experience these technical difficulties.

They actually expect the hurricane to be dowgraded to a category 3 before landfall. It has already been downgraded from a catastrophic category five at 7 am this morning to just a category five at 10 am.
Landfall isn't expected until Saturday morning, so you're good for tomorrow.

if it hits New Orleans again, they're finished sorry to say
gotta question for your admins...if the server does go down, everything is saved right? or is everything going to be lost i'm pretty sure it's going to be saved but not 100% on that...oh ya, why is it not in Canada?

Not to worry, we have a great Service Provider at intralink360 and back-ups of our system are done on a regular basis. Very little data would be lost. Worst case scenerio would only be an interruption in service.
There are more data centers in US cities, with more availibilty of space, thus making it cost effective to utilize systems in place.
