It comes down to money and what your goals are performance wise, answer those two questions and im sure everyone here will be able to help.
For example.... I wanted a b16a2 complete swap but couldn't afford it, so I bought a JDM D15B and plan on turboing that for around the same price and I should hit my goal of 200-220whp when all is said and done plus ill have a nice bov sound lol

if you have the money if say do a b-serie swap or a h22.find out what engine is best for you on your budget. the ZC is a fairly cheap and great for boosted setups. here a list of a few engines with some specs. i use to have a gsr,but now building a b16a2 it has less TQ then the b18,but if your going to build the engine then wont really matter.
B16A2
Displacement: 1,595 cc (97.3 cu in)
Bore×Stroke: 81.0×77.4 mm (3.19×3.05 in)
Compression: 10.2:1

Rev Limit...8,450 RPM
VTEC Engagement...5,500 RPM
B18C5. B18C gsr is a little bit less HP and TQ
Displacement: 1,797 cc (109.7 cu in)
Compression: 10.6:1
Bore: 81 mm (3.189 in)
Stroke: 87.2 mm (3.433 in)
Rod Length: 137.9 mm (5.429 in)
Rod/Stroke Ratio: 1.58
Power: 195 hp (145 kW) @ 8000 rpm & 130 ft·lbf (180 N·m) @ 7300 rpm
Redline: 8400 rpm (Fuel cut-off @ 8500 rpm)
VTEC Engagement @ 6000 rpm
Transmission: S80 w/LSD
H22
Displacement: 2,157 cc (131.6 cu in)
Valve Configuration: DOHC, 16 valves, VTEC

Max power: 185-220 hp/150-160 TQ depending on which gen.
Redline: 7200/7600 rpm
Rev Cut: 7400/7800 rpm
Engine Control System: Honda Systems PGM-FI with port fuel injection
Valve Gear: Belt-driven dual overhead cams, 4 valves per cylinder, variable timing and lift
92-96 versions use closed-deck blocks with FRM liners while the 97-01 versions used open-deck blocks with FRM liners

well i would say about 3000 all togeather (car and motor) like i do want something quick but not overly stupid since they passed that stupid law of 150km/h over im mostly doing this as a apperence car but i also want the power to go with the looks because when i do look for the car i want im goin to make sure the engine i do pick with already be in it.
i know there are so many vtec motors and different things you can stick in to a honda from what i have seen and heard so throw your answers out there and ill go from there thank you
