This is one of the biggest reasons why it was gotten rid of in the first place. Since there is no cop in the van most of the time, that means they have to rely on the pictures the camera takes, and then later figure out who MIGHT of been the one speeding. Since they are looking at a picture that was taken much ealier in the day, or week, then there is NO way for them to know for sure who was ACTUALLY SPEEDING!.

So what they do is send out multiply tickets, and hope that 1 or 2 of the people in the pictures feel guilty enough to send in a payment.

Don't ask where I got this info.

Now imagine if you were doing the speed limit in the slowest right hand lane, but you where driving a done up Civic (all show, and no go).

What do you think would happen if they saw that Civic in one of the pictures they took?

You guessed it. They would be one of th FIRST to get sent a ticket in th mail.

Sounds really fair doesn't it?

Say NO to photo radar.

(sorry about all the posts)

haha...no, mine was a red light ticket that I blew through at over 120 km/h in the city. I damn well knew I ran the red light, and I was kinda happy with the way my car looked on camera.

I was young and stupid... would never do THAT again... or anything else that contradicts the HTA as I know it. Seems if I even THINK about doing something stupid there is a cop just around the corner. hpmf

I still don't fully understand how I can be charged for running a red light or speeding if i am not the driver. Perhaps i was injured and a friend came to take me and my car home and against my request he speeds and runs a red how is it my fault? I did what i could to stop it from happening.

Back when it used to be in affect in TO I heard a lot of talk about Back flashes. Were they a reasonable counter attack on the cameras? Is there any other defence we have? Perhaps a certain vehicle they will be using all the time for this? I also heard rumours of Hair spray on a clean plate being too reflective and blocking the view of the plates... This is all rumour i know nothing of it I didn't own a car back when they still used photo radar.

you are responsible as the owner of the vehicle... for how the vehicle is used. if you lent your car to a friend, and he drove drunk and killed someone, you may be charged with vehicular manslaughter as well... odds are you may get off the charge as it would be hard to prove that you had any knowledge of his intentions to drink and drive, but ultimately... your car = your responsibility. Like a dog too, if your dog mauls someone to death, you get charged with manslaughter or aggrivated assault causing grave bodily injury.
