well i use to have an ek with h22 and they are way faster than my 03 matrix xrs which i traded my ek for!!! but if you compare an 99-2000 sir to a matrix i think its up to the driver! but you cant race on a track....quarter mile is just too short for a matrix!!! highway runs for sure matrix will take it!!! my friend has an 03 sir with intake and mine is bone stock, i rode in both cars and it feels that the 03 sir has more power on lower gears than the trix!! but when it comes to top end ill just eat him!!! now any eg or ek hatch with b series hands down matirx will loose!!! but im happy with my matrix!! more comfty than my ekh22!!! p/s,a/c, no more hassle with cops!!!

^^ how can you compare a swapped civic with a stock xrs? What kind of a comparison is that?

An xrs will chew any civic up to the 7th gen and spit it out... and thats without a TRD supercharger. No ifs, ands or buts.

Did you watch the vid I posted on the first page?

Cause I beat him and that was one of our closer races...usually I beat the xrs's by a car length or more...

Now about beyond the 1/4 mile....the XRS has a 99-00 SiR in the bag.

However, if you draft eachother....let's just say the two cars are glued together

first off im not comparing my old civic to the matrix!!! im just saying my civic was way faster!!

of course if you race a civic against a matrix with supercharge..civic will loose!!! but try racing a b20vtec boost lets see who will win!!! matrix just dont have enough after market source to compete with honda's!!! trust me as much as i want to mod my matrix its either too expensive or none!!! im not hating on my matrix coz im happy with it!!! but i know what honda motors are capable of!!!!

^^ You should check out www.matrixowners.com

They're all a cool bunch of guys....I'm part of their club cause a friend of mine owns the black XRS in the vid, and I usually tagged along....now I go even when he doesn't, they don't seem to care what I drive. But they do like the SiR.

On the matrix owners club forum you can find lots a group buys and mods and parts for cheaper than you would probably find at any store. There are lots of connections to the after market for the trix on that site.....

feel free to take a peak!

^^ Most of the trix's in on matrixowners they have are pushing 165-175whp and one thats putting down 180 NA whp...!!

Yet for some reason, my SiR was unbeaten the whole nite at the drag day back in the spring (when this vid was taken).....

Don't be worried about modded XRS's....they can't shift anywhere near as fast as we can.....the XRS 6 speed is a ***** to shift fast... Plus they have a heck of a time launching...they either spin or bog...lol

The two cars (XRS and 00 SiR) are so closely matched that it makes for some close fun racing...

We should organize a toronto civics/matrix owners meet some time.....any thoughts?

in reply to the comment about no aftermarket for the XRS, that may be true, but its still possible with the right combination of money and resources to push the base model matrix to 300whp... as for the XRS, same deal. Mods are mods.. you can strap a rocket to any car and it will be faster than anything stock... whats the point?

XRS = minivan by Japanese standards. If you think beating one with a modified Civic is a big deal, let me know how the Dodge Caravan did when you raced him...

also should keep in mind that the xrs carries a lot more weight... there are other factors as well, such as how well you can drive vs. him. If you take a look at the xrs sedan, the difference between the weight to horsepower ratio is clear.
I've taken out cars that are technically suppose to murder me, but because of the lack of experience of the driver, i've been able to pull ahead.

matrix vs 00 sir,its up to the driver...my 03 xrs bogs down when you launch at high rpms,i usally launch 1800 to 2100 in between...im using kumho tires and it doesn't bog down or spin...you have to find the range on where you can launch...

the problem with making a matrix go fast its way too much money!!! you spend 7 grand to mod a matrix it will get you a 12 second car!!!! spend 7 grand on a civic your in mid 11's....now if there's a lot of after market support for matrix then the price of parts will be lower then ill mod a matrix!!!

im still not trashing my matrix eventhough im saying negative stuff about it...its just matrix suites me very well with my situation having a kid and all!!! im down for a matrixowners and tcc meet...set the date up!!!!

most of the time when you take out a car that was supposed to murder you it's because they weren't trying. most cars only have 5-6gears and its not rocket science to shift... if they have the power to "murder you" then they will when they actually push the gas to the mat.

^^ lol, from your comments, posts, car, your experience with racing is evident. I'm not even going to argue with you kid. If you think that the only thing matters is how much power a car has, and no other factors account for a win vs. a loss, then i have a suggestion for you, go back to basics.
