The modification war has been going on for years. The question whether or not cars with modifications should be allowed on the streets has been asked for at least 15 years if not more. People have over used and misread and assumed so much all in the name of 'modified' cars etc. Hell, nowadays, cars come pre-modified more than my car is. Where do you draw the line? Initially, the argument was, modifications were performed carelessly and driven by inexperienced drivers back in the day which caused a lot of grief. Nowadays, I'd like to think this industry has expanded and come a long way from the 'backyard garage makeshift turbos and pvc piping nitros kits'. Unfortunately, those who were law enforcement back in those days are still today. The mind set hasn't changed. There has to be an effort made to local law enforcement agencies to educated them that not all people today practice what was preached 15-20 years ago. Until that happens, unfortunately for us, those who are truely innocent and do not abuse the system will suffer.

i personally think that upto a considerable extent, the owners are also responsible and by that i mean youngsters who are new to this whole car modification scene. as used import cars and the aftermarket support for them getting cheaper, more and more newbies come to the scene who do not necessarily have respect nor responsibility for the scene.

as said earlier, such folks are small in number but they bring a bad name to all others. this nissan meet and the subsequent enoucnter with cops is a classic example. i just read their meet thread and the admins said that they were just overwhelmed by how young some owners were.....and the same guys ended up doing burnouts and speeding eventually.

its understandable that if you are a teenager...just bought a civic or another import, you wanna do all the good stuff you read about online and then showoff to friends at a meet but there are limits. this applies to everyone however...not just any particular age group.

talking about Young car owners and pre-modified cars,
a kid that went 2 my high school (me being 19, i was a late graduate cuz im stoopid :[ ) as soon as he turned 16 and got his G1 his parents bought him that car and let him drive it too school, the 2nd day driving it, he tried to do a burn-out RIGHT when school ended trying to show off to his friends and ended up writing off another car and injuring the other 3 people in the other car. the Lexus (dont rmr what model it is), but the one thats pre-modded with the body kit, lights, and pretty much the same if not more modding that my car.
so i understand where the AGE comes into play, but i think its just maturity more than anything.

stop loitering in parking lots where the business people and/or property owners dont want you hanging out...all those hotspots cause their own heat, idiots drifting, racing around, burn outs, loud music, improper parking, more garbage on the ground than cars in the lot, fights etc etc

if a group of people could be courteous, clean and respect the law and other people's property then I dont think the owners etc would have a problem with people in the lot...for example the TCC meets out in the east end there

New here

Ive been trying to search this site for meets i also am part of the Toronto paseo club but now am selling it for parts never went to a meet though just joined here because of my new civic and i was reading the forum and that sucks. But a suggestion if you haven't done so try moving the meet to a less conspicuous place.

We moved out of KC years ago. The spot we are meeting at is nice and secluded. In addition, we have not had any problems at this location.

Heres this weeks meet thread http://www.torontocivics.com/tccv5fo...ead.php?t=5473.

Cheers. And welcome to the club.

I couldn't agree more. The revenues generated from these meets are great, as a business owner, I too will welcome people hang out and bring business.

But lack of self respect, littering, and property damage are the seeds these folks planted for themselves. Some car owners are by-standards as a result of these. I can say that so far, our east end meet has been peaceful and respectful. There are a lot of seniors (the entire Tim Ho is filled with seniors before 10pm) and I bet some of them don't even realize there is a car meet going on. We have got the message across - that we can behave and respect. Police show up once in a while, and so far so good.

save racing for the race tracks. even so it's a dangerous sport and you gotta be knowledgeable and mature enough to do that. ppl that race insanely on the streets imo just fall in tha bad drivers category. we should understand that no matter how good we drive we shouldn't endanger other ppl's lives or properties.

tickets as much for their punitive or cautioning factor they are in the end a money making scheme. so many senseless laws, so many terrible a$$hole coksukin cops out there. but that's just how the world plays. there's not much u can do about it. just lead by example...

personally im new to the scene, m just tryin to learn about my car and how to make it better within certain limits because i guess im an enthusiast. to be honest i dont need to have the latest extra-whatever shocks or a million sway bars or friggin depleted uranium turbocharger..it just doesn't apply to my rusty old 97 lx. and im never gonna be the next schumacher either (hamilton is ) it's just all gotta make sense, otherwise it becomes snobbish and tasteless, that's my 2 cents.
