Parking and down-shifting...
Couple thoughts to get some discussion flowing...
How do you guy park your manual tranny cars? Ebrake in gear.....just ebrake?
(I use ebrake and leave it in 1st)
How do you guys down-shift? Do you even down-shift? and why?
(I heel-toe all the time, even driving normally...just my way of saving the clutch/tranny and brakes, and I don't mean screeming it just slowing down normally, just blip to rev-match)

i usually leave it in 1st and engage the parking brake.
About downshifting, i don't usually downshift too much, unless i'm trying to pass someone and i need the extra power (its just a b16....lol). IMO its easier/cheaper to change the brake pads/rotors than it is a clutch, so i let the brakes do the braking.
But when i do downshift, i usually rev-match to allow for a smooth shift.

E-brake on and in second gear. Reason being because if I start it up and my foot slips then it won't jump forwards as much (first gear) or backwards (reverse). E-brake is always a good idea when parked.

Depends how i'm parked....
But if i'm park illegally but dont wanna get towed. I pull the ebrake up, put it into first, turn the wheels all the way to one side, lock the steering wheel, put on alarm, and walk away!
HAPPY TOWING!

I'd rather have to change the brakes 4 times than the clutch once.

When you rev-match the engine MATCHES the rpm of the tranny so when you release the clutch there is no slipping. It simply engages at the same speed. If it's rotating at the same speed and there's no slipping, how is that wareing down the clutch?
