you don't need to hit a kid to teach them respect.

I've never been hit by my parents. I'm respectful to those who deserve it, have a degree, and make decent cash. education goes farther than a fist in the long term.

any idiot who says they'd kick their child's ass for swearing or whatever has obviously been beaten a few times too many.

i m guessing anyone who is 18 can afford insurance in 4 cars too right. at 18 you dont even have a g licensed

I do have my G license. Why would I need to insure them all? I insure my truck and trailer the rest around. Trust me, the truck is the cheapest on insurance out of all of them lol.

I lived with my folks until I was 32, I paid my parents while saving for wedding, though there were occasional fights, but overall, we got along fine. They worked hard and they deserve all my respects.

I enjoy living with my family. I moved out now, but I still visit my folks at least once a week.

rick10 07-Feb-2008 03:29 PM

i moved out when i was 22 . Bought my condo at 23 and i pay rent since i was 18 because i decided to take a year off to work

Seems like the Asian trend is to stay with family, some Italians and Portuguese say the same thing. Didn't feel like living alone (I did when I was 18 to 24, in Uni). But if my folks wanted to kick me out, I guess that's a different story then.

Word man ^ , my cousin got married few months ago, has an amazing mangerial bank job for a 25 year old, and a hot wife, but he was feeling so home sick, he used to make excuses to go visit back home, he would throw family parties every few days just to get us cousins and his parents to be around him, they live in the Gulf, so yea many people rather stay with the fam then not, i mean its not just the parents, its knowing you will never have what you have once you get married or leave, so make the best of it, all the ish you can do with the cousins, brothers, and feel the muscle of the fam, being independant dosen't mean living own your own.

i'm guessing you don't understand how insurance works.

if you are 1st driver on 4 cars, and you are the only driver on all 4 cars, you only pay insurance for the most expensive one (and additional for theft insurance - but that's not much)

mpfive 08-Feb-2008 01:00 PM

never had problems with parents and cars, i got into an accident at age 17, got a speeding ticket at 18, and my parents were fine with that, well, they were upset, asked me to be more careful, but never to the point that they wouldnt let me drive at all (and it was their cars too) now that i got my own car, i'm extra careful not to do stupid things, just not worth it at my age. (and i'm currently 19, 20 next month)

simich 09-Feb-2008 04:43 PM

Uhh.. you can have your G when you're still 18 to whoever said you can't.

you are lucky, because more parents would take the insurance out of their name after the first accident

when i had my first accident at 18 (first and only accident or ticket in my life) , my dad took me off the insurance , and when i boguht my car my dad did not put my car under his name

At the moment i was furious with him but it taugh me to be extra carefull when driving a car.

I still messed up my dads insurance with my first accident, it went from 110 to 160 (went up 50 bucks) my dad took care of that

But it also depends on the kid , my brother is never been beat up or real punish because he is a good kid . But i was a rebeld since i was 15 -18 ( but a respectfull one i guess) so my dad had not other choice but to show me the hard way to be responsible and i thank him for that

kruption 09-Feb-2008 06:06 PM

Uhmm....Your mom should note that a snow blower mixed with gravel or anything small are awesome projectiles that will **** up cars.

well, to be honest, after my accident, i came to my dad (thinking thats it, he'll take me off the insurance and wont let me drive) and gave him the papers. he then told me that he's more dissapointed that i gave up that easily then the car itself... the car can be fixed, but giving up easily is just lame. he said accidents happen, hope you learn from experience. and i did, cant argue with that :)

wow

Wow 18 years, old, an "auto technician" proud owner of THREE cars a TRAILOR and lets not forget the snowblower. So, you goto school, you have a job, it has to be a full time job to make the money to pay insurance for 3 cars, plus pay rent, and "any extra things" especially a honda civic at 18 years old. So you have time to work a job, and make enough money to pay for all this stuff, plus you goto school, plus you still have a social life (clearly being out at 3am after a club of some sort). I just dont see how this all sums up, you must be having sex with your boss, and your teacher, and be one of the only people in the world with a 34 hour day.

thats pretty good i would say man.

kaval 15-Feb-2008 10:54 PM

I got booked one day driving hte car around with my G1. Parents hid the keys, and to this day we're still missing a set...this is about 4 or 5 years ago! LOL

Way to bring back a dying thread as your first post, kinda pathetic if you ask me especially with a rude remark. We can clearly tell what kind of new member you'll be.
