I have a 1994 Acura Legend thats too big for me now, and I plan to sell it and buy a newer Civic in the next 6 months. My girlfriend has a 1994 and I love driving it in the city.

Just wanted to know if which years/models are the "best" and what years and models to avoid. I will get an auto transmission ... please let me know. Of course I plan on doing a bit of serching here, so I will do some reading here too

See you all again soon

Welcome to TCC

Different people have different tastes on which model is the best. I would say get an EG, Ive got a 94 Si Coupe, and its been great.

If you dont want something that old, go for an EK coupe or hatch depending on your taste.

you asked what are the best ones to look for right?

well, i hav a "EG" 95 civic

but, if i had the money i would go for the 2000 Civic if you can try to get a SiR, but then again you said you want an auto, so look for the 96-2000, but if you can try to get somthing 97 to 2000, because the 96 look almost like the 92-95 models besides the front end..

need for info though, do you want to just drive around? do somthing to it? fast? you dont' care, or what?

the 96 looks the same as the 97-98 . it only received a face lift in 99-00.

Thanks for your replies and information !

I like the newer Civics, so I am going to get a 2001 or newer. Just want it for normal city driving, not interested in speed/performance .... just something small, easy to park and delivering good fuel economy. With gas going up and up, I would like something that gets better than 20 mpg.

Anyone wanna trade their 2001 or newer automatic 4 door Civic for a 1994 Legend sedan (with 132,000 kms) for a 2001 Civic 4 door with an automatic ? Will consider giving or paying cash to make the deal. Let me know .....

96-98 exact same, 99-00 exact same, and even between 86-00 only us civic owners can realy tell the difference between them as there is not muich, in the newer models there is diff headlights, larger grill, 3 hole bumper cover, diff tails, minor interior mods and so on...

but i say go with 96-00, personally get a car and do an sir swap, less money then getting a whole sir...

edit: nm then sir out of question as your are going with an auto, still get a 96-00 i am very please with mine and i have an auto no problems running 178k, never had to do work to it.

or get a 00 accord i love those...

not want an Accord, I want a Civic ! If I bought an Accord, it would only be slightly smaller than my Legend, and I want something quite a bit smaller !

a 2001 civic with an auto tranny can be had for 10-15 grand...maybe cheaper; im just assuming... If i was you i would rather pick one of those up because you can get it with lower mileage and in a lot better condition which is a plus. And little things that make you like your car will work better on a newer model than an older one, like A/C and heat..

but I dont know your budget. If you want a really nice civic, thats small, quick and gets very good gas mileage i would consider a 2002-2003 (i think those are the years) SiR!!

Edit: whoops, im pretty sure SiR's dont come automatic however.

manual transmission is NOT something I would buy .... I drive too much in the city and I dont want to shift gears. I am pretty good at buying good used cars, so I am sure I can find a good one.

Here is a fact most of you probably dont know .... all over the world the Acura Legend is called a Honda Legend ... everywhere EXCEPT the USA and Canada !

I have read about 100 posts today so I have already learned a lot, but still have a lot to learn. I will get a top model Civic ... the only option I don't want is leather seats.

Which model/year has the most comfortable seats .... I already know which one has the wishbone suspension. I am not going to mod this car into a racer ... just drive it stock and I can't wait to get one !

By the way this forum seems very welcoming ... a nice change from some of the Legend forums I have posted on !

no lie, that came out the wrong way man...the reason why i said not to really look at the 96's it's because there the first year that they changed after the EG's so i wouldn't trust the first year and reather go to a 97

but ya, your right as well
