Lightbulb Northern Mod/Admin

Can I nominate my self to be the northern mod/admin. It doesn't seem to me that we have one up this way might be worth it I am willing to cover Barrie/Orillia and as far as Midland and of course all the surrounding areas. This is one of the main reasons I have not joined do to the fact it's an hour and a half to two hours for me to go to any of the meets. By the time I drive down and back on a weekly basis i probably wouldn't be home till 2am. I would like to get involved in some way but just don't know how from up here any help would be appreciated. Mods you can look all my posts are on topic and I feel I have a good grasp of the rules also. I thought about nominating Kieran but thought he is out the opposite way and located close to north Toronto. This is up for discussion please post away.

youd be a rep not a mod, as we have no northern forum on tcc to look after

only paid members can become admin/mods.

I'm 4 hrs south of 'sauga... and I try to contribute. So anything is possible.

you have to be selected as a mod, and becoming an admin is next to impossible. Also only paid members are mods and if you feel its too far to drive down once a month even to a meet then what would making you a mod change?

I think he was just saying, if others wanted to join in his area, he'd like to be the northern contact. He wasn't saying all of a sudden he'll come to every meet... just a convenient area rep.

Thanks Cee Mon

Sorry i missed that fact. I am looking to be a Northern Rep I am willing to drive once a month down to keep an update. Another big thing is all the discounts are in Toronto I would be willing to work on getting discounts up here for members.

well most members are friendly enough that they would be willing to help you getting parts from our affiliates down here. Also being a rep would still require you to be a paid member and prove that your are a trustworthy person etc. Come out to a meet sometime and see how you like the club, then go from there.

Also the reason mos the discounts are in toronto is cause its the Toronto Civic Club. As far as getting new affiliates, they would need to be interviewed by an admin and also it would need to be worthwhile for the club as a whole and not the 1-2 people who are paid members up north.

What I'm thinking is that most people up here who are guests are that way for a reason. This is becasue they are not willing to drive the 2 hours to become a member and to get discounts. If we had a rep up here you would probably have more members. I like how this thread is coming along keep up the good work guys.

btw im not tryin to sound like an ***, just putting things into perspective. It would definitely be good to have a rep. up north but generally its people who have been paid members for a while who are considered for those positions.

maybe more people from up north are the same way as rbjeepthing though and due to working and stuff have a hard time getting to Toronto for meets. if there was a rep up north than maybe there would be more paid members.

+1 from me

oops sorry Age, i guess we were thinking the same thing lol

Exact reason iam not a paid member. To me to save the 10% on a 100 or 200 part is not worth the 1 hour and 10 bucks worth of gas to drive to TO.

Yeah i can understand the drive is fairly lengthy but if the distance is an issue then maybe the club isnt right for you? The only reason i say this is because some people think TCC is just a web forum. Its definitely way more than that to me, TCC is a club where our members participate in events and get together. The forum is just a way for people to learn stuff and communicate when not at a meet.

Come out to a meet sometime when your free and just meet the members and then go from there

you could look at the time thing that way but you could also think of it this way:

spend 2 hours wasted in traffic getting to a meet, or spend 2 hours at a local meet and every now and then get a tour to a toronto meet

if anyone from barrie is interested in becoming a paid member, things can be arranged to meet up with a rep/mod/admin. Really distance shouldnt be an excuse, we have a member from california just to put things into perspective.

I have been to 2 meets. I know that's not much but I started frequenting this site at the end of the season. Both times I missed the mods due to the work schedule and length to get there I always seem to be late for them. If you look at the number of people on here, yes a majority of the people are from the GTA yes but there is about 20% that are not in Toronto. Even the pimp of TCC ( CyniKal.Mindset) doesn't live in Toronto.
