I haven't heard anything about that.. But that's INSANE.... I think it's almost impossible to outlaw something such as that.. How can they possibly govern such a thing.. I mean... There are just WAY too many cars and manufacturers to keep track off. How are they suppose to enforce such a thing? How are you suppose to figure out if a 350 Chevy has been modified or what not? To what extent do they mean "MODIFYING"??? You can't tell me they're going to be able to figure out every manufacturer, for every year, for the last 100 years? That's IMPOSSIBLE!!!

Freedom of ******* SPEDNING MY MONEY AS I SEE FIT!!!! They wanna legalize marijuana, but make modifications illegal. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense Maybe it would be good as it would make the sport go back into the underground where it's the most fun... I don't think there is a chance in hell they'll succeed.

I heard that NOS is illegal on street cars, I think its absolutely ridiculous that there gonna legalize marijuana and make modifications illegal too, thats a crock of ****, this government has too much time on their hands. More people have been killed in my area by elderly drivers then in street races, but are they doing anything about that?

Bill cracks down on lane hogs, drag racers
CAROLINE MALLAN
QUEEN'S PARK BUREAU CHIEF
Crackdowns on drag racers and motorists who clog up the highway passing lane, and mandatory booster seats for young kids are part of a road safety bill introduced yesterday at Queen's Park.
The bill would require drivers to use the left-hand lane only for passing on highways with three or more lanes and a speed limit of 100 kilometres per hour.
The measure is designed to encourage drivers to keep right except to pass and reduce aggressive driving behaviour, the government said.
OPP Constable Laurie Taylor-Bolton of the Toronto detachment said the left lane is a problem on every highway.
"You get a lot of road rage," she said. "A lot of times, a guy's doing 120 and that's not fast enough for the guy behind him.'' "The lights start flashing and the horn is honking and both are already speeding," Taylor-Bolton said.
In heavy Toronto traffic, it's sometimes difficult to move to the right, she said, but if it's possible, motorists should do it.
The bill would also increase penalties for people caught street racing.
And it would require booster seats for children who weigh between 18-27 kilograms or 40-60 pounds and whose height while seated is less than 63 centimetres, or 25 inches.
Transportation Minister Norm Sterling said the bill breaks new ground in Canada when it comes to vehicle safety, much as the province led the way with mandatory seatbelt legislation in 1976 and baby seats in 1982.
"With this measure, we are moving to protect those children who have outgrown their child car seats, but who are still too small for regular seat belts to be effective," Sterling told the legislature in introducing his bill.
The bill would also:
Ban the use of nitrous oxide and other compounds that boost engine performance — these products are popular with young people who have been caught drag racing in the past.
Order the impounding of vehicles of drivers caught street racing. The drivers' licences would be suspended immediately for at least 48 hours.
Regulate the amount of window tinting allowed on windshield and front side windows to make it safer for police to approach vehicles.
Designate the left lane for passing only on highways that have three or more lanes.

yeah, and even then how many deaths have come from real street racing, like the stuff they do in woodbridge or wherever? all the street racing accidents happen from two stupid cars that have 17 yr olds driving during rushour on some stupidly busy street like burnhamthorpe decide to race each other weaving in and out of traffic and then either end up in a pole or in the other lane of traffic where the cars are doing 80 km/h..... it's such a waste of time, shootings are going up, thefts are up, and instead of making new laws about that they're making new laws about cars? it's a joke, i can't believe i'm paying these peoples salaries?!?!? i could've sworn there were more important mattes to attend to in the whole scheme of things rather than spending my tax dollars prosecuting someone like me for fog lights, or someone like 1quickhatch for his tints, and loud STOCK MUFFLER!!!! IMO it's a waste of time, esp when cops don't even know what to really look for that really could be dangerous, they see something shiny and flashy and that's about it, while the people that know how to hide the real illegal things get away with it..... if only the people in the system knew what they were talking about it would be much more effective, the way it goes now is just a big waste of time and taxpayers money, don't forget we have to pay for all the other kids that get stupid tickets too..... it's too bad that cops never take the time to listen to us, they just make rules and think it'll work, if they send the car scene totally underground there will be real trouble, not like the media hyped stuff there is now.....

Heck, while they're at it, maybe they should re-test everyone for their licenses every few years to make sure they haven't picked up bad habits. People with bad driving habits and lack of knowledge of the limits of their own driving skills are the most dangerous parts of driving in this country and the only reason it's getting worse is that these issues aren't being addressed.
I think these issues are more important than a small group of people driving around with performance-adding components in their cars.

Think about it though, the police complain about not having enough resources. Then they turn around and waste time catching people parking in handicap spots (something that should be enforced but by mall security) and making up laws that will be forgotten in a month. I think their resources could be much better spent dealing with serious crimes like shootings and rape, etc. Although on second thought, Operation cash cow does generate a lot of revenue for them. Just my opinion.
