New Family Car?

Ive done all the research.. Ive been looking for a newer to me car. I currently drive my eg hatch that ive had now for almost 4 years. Its been an amazing car , and infact still has lots left for someone else.

With a baby due, and my 8 year old son playing loads of sports. Ive decided at looking for a 4 door, or a wagon.

So far my #1 Choice is a 02-05 Subaru WRX Wagon.. All wheel drive is a plus, they seem to be real reliable.. and yet still fun to drive.

Dropped by Budds today and the wife gives it the thumbs up. What do you guys think?

my dad has an 04 wrx wagon in red and he loves it...no problems whatsoever...the only downer is that it is not quiet in the cabin because it is a sports sedan...but it does have a momo steering wheel and bucket seats and has pretty decent trunk space...

i say go for it...my dad got his beginning of last year for $32k taxes in..it was a managers vehicle with 9k on it

not a bad choice for a family-oriented vehicle with some sports-features =)

Ya, I think the other one was locked. I have no idea why it would be locked and not transferred here, lol.

Anyways, I have heard good things about those cars too.

to all the people recommending the WRX.. have you ever been in one or driven one?

do you really want your kid to become accustomed to the feel of cheap vinyl and economy cloth?

i would personally want my child to experience a little comfort and quiet.

Check out the CSX type S thats due next month.

Navi, 197 hp, 4 doors, HIDs, VSA, all for around 34 000 I think.

Worth considering!

I've sat in them, they are fine....

kids don't need comfort (they do need enough not to injure themselves, I would hardly say the WRX interior would injure someone), they just safety...

hell, if I was about to have young kids, I would consider a car with vinyl a benefit, easy clean up of spills (although I don't remember vinyl in the WRX when I was in it, lol, but I might be mistaken)

I almost bought an 02 WRX wagon before I got the civic....they wanted too much money for the WRX and it had a ALOT of km's on her...oh well...I'm happy with my choice.

The WRX is an awsome car...but one thing to think about with this being a family car: It doesn't have a whole lot of interior space and the fuel mileage is....well.....not that great...especially with a fairly small tank...

My $0.02.

i wont compare the csx sedan with the wrx wagon when considering a car for family with kids and stuff. the trunk space as well as the interior space on compact cars is never enough when you have to carry a stroller, a baby bag plus in your case...your son's stuff when is out on sport etc.

plus it is easy to move things in and out of the wagon bed than a typical trunk.

a friend of mine who has two kids bought a jetta wagon and it looked pretty spacious.

i bought a 04 wrx wagon and i love it, sold my crx and haven't looked back. still have a place for hondas in my heart but nothing like a stock turbo and awd. and having a warrentee is such a luxury after driving the crx.

The price of the CSX Type S also includes freight and PDI. I'd rather have a TSX too, but the CSX is still a nice little ride.
