Question New Civic SiR vs. Old Civic Sir?

Has anyone by any chance come across articles or an article detailing tests of any sort that compare the old and new Civic SiR? Just curious that's all

Check out sportcompactcarweb.com at:
http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/ar...e01_0102.shtml
for the new SiR (Us spec Si) and go to CarandDriver.com at:
http://www.caranddriver.com/xp/Caran...Civic&class=42
and click on the link to the Honda Civic Si (1999)
In my (biased) opinion, you are better off with the last SiR since it has a better suspension (no Macphersons), looks better, was cheaper (i paid 23000 + tax and it is now 25500 at my dealership) and is faster! Plus there are a million mods for the B16 engine.

P.S I own an original 2000 SiR so i may be a little biased, but i cant wait for someone to pull up next to me in a new one!

well you can't compare the Type S to the new SiR because it's got 200hp on the Type S and a 6spd tranny So...it's quite unfair already, you'd say well the weight difference? I think the Type S would still whoop it's ***.. hehh..ah well

Hmm...Nash...you might be right...you may have some biases...BUT you're not wrong in some aspects...but I tend to disagree with saying that the Mcpherson suspension isn't as good. Alot of exotic cars have McPherson strut suspension systems, so I don't think one is inferior to the other.

i agree with SiRNash, but then again i also have a biased opinion

honestly the only edge the new SiR has on the old are the seats.

I like the old SiR better, but I prefer the coupe body styling, performance wise, I don't know the difference.

sorry ryuujin, but you are misinformed, the only reason the new Sir uses Macphersons up front is because it is more compact than the double wishbone multilink setup. Infact the Macpherson is no where near as good as the multilink set up. Because multilink suspensions assign specific wheel-locating duties to each element, they provide great flexibility in optimizing handling. For more information refer to:
http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_s...uspension2.htm
I am not saying it wont handle well, it has the same suspension as the euro spec civic Type R and lets face it its a Honda! But
having said all this i was debating my suspension setup with a buddy so we are going to check it out on the weekend (he owns a GTI). I'll keep you posted if you care.

I dont want to be a post *****, but i hate leaving open questions so here is the info on the old vs new civics. The old ones did have the double wishbone independant front suspension.

new SIR

Old vs. New....

I have neither, but I do think that the dash mounter shifter is pretty awesome and functionally the new SIR is better....

BUT its looks a VW that got kicked in the chin.

I think its Ugly, and the base RSX is cheaper that the SIR

So I'd put my money into that puppy if I was going new.
