New car on the way

Yeah, that is pretty bad, but it might not be all in the maintenance, but rather in your lead foot.

I'm keeping the Si, so the wheels are staying on it for now.
Yeah, not the nicest car on 4 wheels, but it will run forever and I can't resist the price. A/C, ABS, power windows/locks, keyless entry decent stereo. The base ones have nothing. The Yaris payment and gas will be cheaper then just gas for the Si. They are super reliable and hold their value too. I bought it outright, so I can drive it into the ground unlike my other leased cars.

I'm assuming you aren't driving 150 km in the city (if you are, buy a bus pass, or move, or something)..
Civic Si highway millage = 6.8L/100 km
Yaris = 5.5L/100km
150km*250 work days (on the high end, assumes no vacation, thats fine) = 37,500 km per year
Litres used in Civic Si = (0.068L/km*37,500km) = 2550L
Litres used in Yaris = (0.055L/km*37,500km) = 2062.5L
Let's use an average cost of $1.50/L (not quite there, but close enough, doesn't really matter)
Civic = 2550L*$1.50/L = $3,825
Yaris = 2062.5L*$1.50L = $3,093.75
Difference = $3,825 - $3,093.75 = $731.25
So in gas you are saving $731.25 per year...So unless you have some magic lease/finance deal where it costs you LESS then $700 a YEAR, seems like your LOSING a lot of money doing this...
and this is before you insure the second car, and do maintenance on it.
Now, these might be slightly off because these are the 'listed numbers', but I can't imagine them being so far that they represent thousands of dollars difference...It's civic you drive, come on

I actually bailed on the deal. The gas savings wouldn't have been that much different as posted above. What was going to cost me more then I though was the insurance. $1200 a year for the Yaris, which is only about $100 cheaper the the Si.
Later this summer/fall, I'm going to look around for a 96-00 Civic Hatch for a beater/winter car.

i've done 700 kms in my auto EF sedan, and 800 kms in the 5 spd EK. both trips were about 90% highway driving and i still had a couple of liters in the tank. i've also seen 4.3 l/100 kms in the auto EF 100% highway from windsor to 'sauga, but I had cool weather and a slight tail wind so it kinda doesn't count.
