New car on the way

Well, I had an EX Civic before my Si and I was getting about 650 km's to a tank. I kinda wish I kept it now that gas price's are so high.
Anyway, the EX had more extra options (moonroof, better stereo, alloy wheels, rear disks), but the basic options were the same. The Yaris is actually a decent handling car and with 108 hp, it moves along ok. Reliablity and resale will probably be the same.
I would have considered a Fit or another base Civic, but my Toyota discount makes the Yaris, very, very affordable.

Well technically its 800km for 45L. 95% highway and no faster than 100km/hr. If you granny your car (anticipating traffic lights....no heavy braking....very slow acceleration etc..) you can get better than the government ratings for cars.
Look up hypermiling on google and you'll see how many people are doing this, EG civic vx getting close to 50MPG.

If you don't drive like a maniac, you can squeeze 700 on a Civic. I did it once going through Virginia, Vermount, NH, and Maine route to Eastern Canada. Mind you, it was like 50km through towns and ish and 100km on hwy. Not this 120+ on the 401 ish.
