new car thoughts

What do you guys think about the 97-98 Mitsubishi Eclipses. Looks wise they're beautiful machines but do these cars break down a lot and have minor/major engine problems. I heard that the car's weren't build in Japan and that Dodge makes their motors which im not too fond about and I also heard that the turbo kits on the cars cause many problems down the road. So does anyone have any informative info on the car, good or bad and please no "get a Honda" answer instead of that crap, thx

are those the ones that look like the talons or the newer ones?
the f and f model is the best IMO, that year not the styling
go for it

good read up US forums for esclipes.. You'll be surprized with the amount of negative comments ppl have posted with these cars.

Specially the GSX.

kool thx guys, I just don't want to spend everything I've got on one and have problems down the road, im kind of looking for something that won't give me major headaches down the road so if I here bad words about efficiency with this car then im going to strive for a 6th gen hatch or an si coupe with low K.

BTW yes it's the model from f and f 1, here's a pic of the body style

get a honda jackass j/k

MBSi, nice cars, if I were to get one I'd get a 1st gen fa shizzle, rather than the later years. Cuz when a 98-99 breaks down on you, you'll be kicking yourself in the ***... as opposed to just saying - meh, I paid $2000 for the car, what did I expect.

Trannies are known to be bad, as are the bottom ends as ppl have mentioned.

IMO, a late model 240SX will do you better as long as you dont' mind driving a boat. How about an MR2 turbo?

lol, don't think i'll be getting a 240 or mr2, a lot of people try telling me the type of car I should drive but i'll drive a car that I want and that I want to drive. I already had a line up of 10 cars that I wanted but now it's down to a few. It's either a 6th gen hatch or si coupe/3rd gen integra/eclipse/Z24. But as of now the Z24 is gone, screw GM, and im doubtful about the eclipse b/c all I hear are bad words about them but the reason I wanted it is b/c they're rare and nice cars so im down to 3 cars as of now

Blue, Can't find them right now.. I'll look around again.

I was very close to buying a 97-99 GSX last summer.. I somehow found a few US forums with a lot of mitsubishi information... People were putting the car down hard. Not just the eclipses but all mitsu's, especially the newer ones. After reading through all of that, i changed my mind.

I do however agree that it looks soooo nice.. I love the shape of that car! plus 4WD, TURBO, Leather, convertible.....! oh man the potential seems unbelievable.. You really need to be making decent money to afford a car like that though.. Cuz it will give you problems and it will cost $$$$ to fix..

Honda's are so god damn simple to work with...

I remember a lot of ppl talking abuot the GSX giving a lot of drivetrain problems.. 4WD issues bigtime.. and turbo.

I think the Base model is good, but **** u buy that car for the 4wd,turbo! otherwise you might as well just get a honda!

Thanx so much Cab, I won't be making much so that's why I wanted a car that won't give me headaches and even if a Honda does down the road i'll know how to fix it easily b/c im used to working on them.

I wouldn't call them junk unless you have owned one

I would pick any turbo 97-99 Eclipse or 93+ RX7 over any civic

i have owned 30 Hondas, 20 of them civics

Yes they are High Maintenance , pricy to own,but have alot more potentials then Alot of Hondas

Girls panties get wet when they see an RX7 -Eclipse

I don't where you got your information from, Cablerat, but the RX-7 is far from junk.

I assume you're talking about the rotary engines blowing up often. Well that's because the RX-7 rotary isn't your everyday engine and when people who know nothing about it start throwing mods onto it, they blow. If you take care of the engine and research your mods and install them correctly, then the engine will last.

The RX-7 is an amazing car styling wise, and even more, performence wise.

RX-7? Junk....do I have to all the people I know with them in here to start beating people down.

As for DSMs the 2nd gens have more problems then the first. There's a saying 'If you want to look good, get a second gen. Want to go fast, get a first gen.'
I know DSMs more then I know Hondas and more then I know my new car, which I know very little about.

DSMs are nice.....when they're running
