new car input
hello everyone,
It's time to buy a new car and i'm so confused....I'm heavy into the the whole modifying and aftermarket scene....and am a japanese fanatic..... I bleed honda but with a budget 20k and not so much a fan of the newer shapes, I'm starting to look at others....I'm old school and have had my EF for the past 6 years and that's not going n e where....... So far the car that stands out the most to me is the Lexus IS300.......
car will be driven daily, and I'm too young so the IS having 4 doors helps on insurance......

maybe that was too strong a phrase, I do love honda.....but I also love JDM in general
EDIT - and sorry by new I mean newer then my 1989 EF lol ..... so not BRAND new, but I would still consider if it fell within or close to 20k.

Maybe an Acura RSX? Its fairly new, can be had under $20,000, and there is a ton of after market support.
If you need a 4 door, maybe an Acura EL? Mine is for sale (hint hint, lol).
If you want RWD then the IS is a great car, but it might be tough to find a good one for under $20,000.

An IS300 won't save you money on insurance...lol. It goes under the luxury brand of cars according to insurance agencies.
IS300 is a nice car though. If you need 4 doors, that's a really good choice imo.
There's no way you can get an is350 for under 20K. Well at least not at this moment in time.

mazda m3 gt for sure , it ll cost you under 20 000 , it feels luxury inside and the outside is great, its also pretty fast for a car in that category . Insurance is cheap , trust me its feels better than a civic (civics 2005 under) , although the newer model civics (06 , 07 ,08 ) are a real competition for the m3.
i m not sure if you can find a lot of mods for the m3 , although i don't think you need much because the car is great stock

Well i was saying that in comparison to the other cars that i was interested in, like the 2000 SiR and integra type R, or the rsx type S, I was quoted higher on those vehicles......
E36 M3 is sick......but wouldn't that kill me with insurance, not to mention i will be driving daily........ ?

redline guy; you could probably cop a supra for under ten grand. then you get a sweet I6 like you would with the lex but possibly also with turbo and not to mention it's rarer than the is300. or get an rx7 and turbo that bitch out then it's off to the races.
either way if you're looking to soupe something up you won't get anywhere with an is300 on a 20k budget but you could still get your hands on a jap sports car and do some damage. i mean, if you wanna soupe **** up then it makes sense (to me) to stick with a honda, toyota, or mazda for the wealth of interchangeable and performance parts available.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as you man. I think our choices would be a RSX, 06 Civic Si, Is300, G35, 350z, a 3-series bimmer, S2000, WRX or something along those lines. I checked my insurance on all of those, they actually seem to be all very close in terms of monthly rates. So pretty much, just go with what you like. All of those car can be modified nicely. Good luck with your choice!

yeah i test drove it, very nice car......fits like a glove, fell in love with it BUT...... it is rotary, so it drinks too much oil and gas, as in like 17 mpg highway which is pretty crappy...... i was looking into that as well, but i just wouldn't trust a rotary, no matter how many improvements they have made...... long term who knows u know......

Please tell me where I can find a TSX, RX8, WRX, etc for 20g's.
To the o/p, do you want a coupe or sedan? Speed or style? I like the RSX myself, but an IS300 would be a nice choise too. I can't imagine maintenance costs would be cheap though. My 06 Si is on some used car lot somewhere. Buy it.
