Need your opinion boys!
Guys so I'm about to sell my car for 3000, my dads willing to throw on another 4000 max so that means I'm looking for a 2-door coupe, has to be a manual I'm looking for performance and looks and something that is reliable. So my budget to the maximum is $7000, I'm open to any 2-door imports not really a fan of domestic but we'll see, I was originally gonna get a 4 door Maxima but didn't wanna go for a 4 door again, recently I'm thinking Prelude or a RSX but I'd love to hear your opinions really appreciateD!

get a 94+teg (2000-6000), throw a jdm front end on it ($1000) and call it a day....decent motor...quick...but fugly as sh1ttt unless u dramatically modify front end :P

Turbo your car instead ;)

I'm pretty sure the OP has male genetalia, so the lady-car is out. Why not recommend a Sunfire GT while we're at it? For 7k, you could throw on some altezzas and underglow. Maybe even do a cavalier front-end swap if you're feeling saucy. Lol I'd go with the 4th Gen Prelude. Since selling it, I don't think a day goes by where I don't think about it. Nice, low, wide body, relatively easy maintenance however it may as well be a two-seater. NO space in the back at all. But being a fairly tall guy myself, I had MORE than enough space in the front. Seats are rediculously comfortable, dash-layout is easy to read (digital, too!). Shifter's in the perfect position. I can't say enough good things about the lude. |
cars to give a chance:
Nissan 240sx( one of few cars with an engine big enough to hold pretty much any motor) Honda Civic (enough said) Hyundai Tiburon ( yeah i said it... I drove it and with the 6spd it is tons of fun) Subaru impreza RS coupe (fun in all types of weather) |
CVPI... i know it's 4 door auto but u can pick up a decommissioned one for $5g and blow the doors off any import off the lot
with that said, take the bus for a while, save a little more and pick up an r32 |

older bmw m3 - hahaha, maintenance nightmare i'd say go for a 92-95 civic ex or dx coupe. -because its a dx or ex it will be cheaper on insurance than an si/sir -get a rough condition one for about 800 or less -b series swap $1500 or more depending on if you do it yourself or not -fix all the rust and get a paint job, $2000 or so tops -pick up a set of gsr blades or sir rims with tires approx $600 -full coilover set up approx $1000 with lca's -full exhaust header to muffler approx $700 -intake $50-100 thats approximately $6700 with the possibility for more money to spare depending on the condition of the rust and how cheap you can find parts for it. with the extra money you can get your safety, etest and a mixture of things like a lip kit, fog lights, window tints, and whatever your little heart desires. once you get bored of the motor, you can boost it too  |

Lol thanks for your opinions I'm kinda leaning towards a lude, I don't wanna do anything 95 and under like a 240sx, I don't mind Golf GTI's but I heard maintenance is messed up but I've heard the H22A motor burns a lot of oil, I think the RSX isn't all that girl type of car lol.

personally i would also go for the prelude. Very nice car, specially the white prelude ...
Honestly for 7000 you cant be too picky !! .... Be happy if you get a 2000+ prelude Keep this in mind , you are buying a sports car that is going to be 10 years old , so it wont be perfect .... and more than likely it must have been abused by the owner ;) |
Prelude would be a handsome choice if you go with that. :bling:

Prelude is crap. H22 engines are complete garbage and cars are silly slow.
People hating on vw/audi/bmw...that's silly as well. I have many friends who own vws and audis and they haven't had problems. Anything from 2.0 mk2 jettas to mk4 vr6 golfs and 1.8t golf/a4. The mk4 jettas had many electrical problems, but once you actually know your way around the car, most issues arent a big deal. The good thing about these cars is that they are solid. A built 1.8t golf is loads and loads of fun. Driven one, didnt want to get out. 16psi with a gt28R and a long gear tranny that they have, makes it for a very fun ride. Its really all in how you take care of it and how you drive it. How many people who own civics complain that something has gone wrong yet again. Car vibrates, doesn't drive right etc. If you wanna be a ricer, put a spoiler on and pretend you are fast you can get a honda civic and go nuts...If you want a car thats comfortable and has balls, i wouldn't go for anything else than vw/audi/bmw. Well thats just my opinion... |
all i know is from the experience of working on vehicles day in and day out, i cannot stand vw/audi/bmw
|
Granted, there are few design flaws, like taking out ac compressor out of a mk3 bay with a vr6 is close to impossible without either cutting the bolt or removing/lifting the engine.
Though ive seen few absurd design flaws in hondas as well. All cars have pros and cons. Good for one may not be good for somebody else. |
