Arrow Need some info on the EM Cars

So im interested in owning a used 2001-2005 Civic Sedan/Coupe , or a 2001-2005 EL .
What are the motor spec's on them?Vtec?
Which vehicle would you choose?
If you were to add a Turbo too one of these which one would it be and why?

plz state any extra info you may have that would be helpful to me.

Thanks!

Well, maybe not a billion.

I had a 2003 Civic and it was a fine daily driver/grocery getter, but I wouldn't personally bother modifying one.
-Parts are limited compared to the older generation Civics and they could be pricey.
-The macphereson strut suspension didn't like being lowered on (easily blown struts, bump steer, etc).
-The D17 Vtec versions only made about 127hp and were made more for economy then performance.
-cable operated shifter was were rough compared to the older rod type.

Try searching TCC and the other board metioned above.

your car now the 1996 lx coupe has way more potential then a EM2

Save the money and use that money to mod the car

if you boost, same engine so doesnt matter
h-t em2 section has a decent write up on boosting a d17
also try d-series.org

but

as mentioned before

if you want a great DD em2's are fantastic
if you want peformance, go with an older model civic, or be prepared to fork out a lot of $.

the civic doesn't have vtec unless you get Si and has 115hp. while the EL has vtec with 127hp. the 7th gen coupe doesnt look too good while the sedan looks really. go for the EL

2003 and up are the better Civics..and yes, Si for the power
01-02 had issues with the front struts....well my '02 didn't, but generally
mine liked being lowered on oem struts, never had a problem, and with the MacF there was no need for an alignment

never had a problem with the cable shift either so i dunno
the ss adaptor worked out great

only thing i would have done would have been the K20 swap thru BTN....shytty the AC and PS lossage tho in doing it

they have to make the intake manfold plastic on the newer stangs otherwise with the amout of weight it has it will weigh slightly more then pluto.
