Question Need a quick answer please

'97 Civic EX Sedan - Low Fuel Light

Newb question I know...

Fuel light "blinks" on but doesn't stay on. Once the fuel level gets low enough, will the light stay on (solid)?

How long after the light stays solid will the car run completely out of gas (kms)?

Thanks,
C

p.s. We bought this car used and did not get the owners manual. What size (Litres) is the gas tank?

not sure on "how many kms you have left" there are a lot of variables that are unknown, like driving speed, clean filter, etc....
but if I had to guess, you may get 25-30kms

the size of the tank is probably around 35-40 litre.

**newer civics have a 50litre tanks over the previous gens which hold 45 litres**

40 liter tank 5 liter reserve... about 40 driving kms just to be safe. Yeah, letting it get that low lets the pump heat up... fuel cools the pump normally.

the fuel light coming on and off... that's fuel slosh, usually happens on on/off rampsfor the highway cuz all the fuel sloshes to one side.

sum clusters were not equipped with this. my LX was, then I switched to a 99 EX cluster for the tach, but that meant no light, so I swapped the little filter cards (the ones that have the icon for the idiot lights) and put a bulb in - voila! I got low fuel light again!
