Need opinions on Del Sol !!

Hi.

My girlfriend wants to lease a new car. She wants a 2 door Cavalier. I keep telling her to consider Delsols. We're gonna go see one tomorrow. She is already interested in them.

I told her they are high demand cars. Always hot, good looking and easy to repair and maintain. After all its a Civic.

Now she is saying that she is gonna buy it, only on my recomendation and that shes gonna take my word for it!! Now what if something went wrong with the car?!!! I know it won't, cause it has Honda relability.

But just in case, so I won't look bad, are there any issues with these cars? The one she likes is a 93 Auto with 130,000 Kms for $7900.....

make sure the roof seals are good...nobody likes a soggy seat in the morning after a nice big rain storm...the only issues I can think of would be roof related (seals, latches etc)...that price sounds way steep too for a 93 auto...it better be mint!

Don't listen to em man, they are WORTH every dime.

I love my car ever since I got 'em, there's some things I'd look out for though like stated the roof seals. They can squeak but they can be fixed easily. (Mine were squeaking so I have to fix em with the cost of washers and a screwdriver, but winter froze the roof seals so its not squeaking anymore)

Other then that there's a problem with the door handle that has a tendency to break, my driver's side door handle is broken but its nothing serious, you can still use the door it's just there's a soft spot on the plastic

And um, door wrinkle. That's when the sides of the car stick out a bit. Happens to like 95% of del Sols. Other then that, everything is smooth and tell her she'll love the targa top.

Del sol's are way overpriced for sure. You cant even change the headlight bulb without having to take off the front bumper.

Hmmmm....

I know its a nice car and she would love it. She now thinks so too.
Everybody seems to believe they are over priced. I see if I can find one for a good price.

How does $6500 sound for a 93 Fully loaded with around 130K on it? (I found another one).

lean her towards a hatch or somethin more practical...they are cute "chick" cars but they are one of the least practical cars out there...2 seats and no trunk space! if she gets this car you better believe you are gonna be driving everyewhere!

Yeah. They are small. But thats OK. She wouldn't need the space anyways. She like the Targa roof.

You mean for shopping and stuff?

Well I would realy like to drive that car too. I told her if she gets the Sol, I will soup it up for her with a nice system, nice wheels and a nice drop!

All from the TCC classifieds ofcourse.

If you can find one for around $5000-6500 i think that would be a good price. Just make sure to go over every inch of the car and test drive it and make sure everything works properly. Also check for rust in the rear quarter and also maybe check for scratches on the paint of the targa from removing it etc.

PS - if your girl does decide to get a del sol and your gonna do some exterior body stuff, I would suggest a full Type M (Mugen) body kit.
