Crx are fun cars and you will enjoy them , but when looking to buy one ,check for the most common issue >> RUST
CHECK

Jack points/floor

Shock towers

Sunroof for leaks

Gas cap area and gas tank

Good Luck

RUST IS YOUR MAIN CONCERN !

Lots of these cars are rusted out and/or rusted but hidden !
Stay away from any crx's that have lotsa rust !
They will/are a money pit .....

Also, look for one that has no modification or very little, usually if they have been highly modified, they have been driven the crap outta them....

Both my crx's have stock motors and have original paint on them still ! Now that is rare !

Get the car thoroughly inspected by a Honda mechanic (I recommend Altech) and make a list of things that need fixing....
all these crx's need fixing at this point....

Also, 90-91's are the best because they have 4 wheel disc brakes.. 88-89's are the lightest though.

good luck.

Don't have one, but they're great little cars. I like everything about them, main thing to check is body no matter how fast it is or how cheap the price is, body is #1.

I would also go for a 90-91, like them a bit better and I also heard that the 90-91 frames are a bit better than the 88-89's along with the civics, not sure if it's true or not though.

could be true because I have aboth and my 1990 handles /fees much better than my 1989, both have the same suspension.

yea also the body tends to stay stronger and rot a lot less than the 88-89's with the exception of your yellow one
Also like the lenses and corners better in the front, the rims are much nicer with the newer ones, the cover for the gauge cluster is nicely rounded instead of the box shaped old ones and the seats are much nicer also

Seats are the same for both cars, just that the '90+ have red pinstripes and '88-89 have grey pinstripes.
The CRX isn't a quick car in its stock form really, peppy yes, but not a racing machine.

Oh ya the '90+ have day time running lights, I think?!

Yea I like the newer style seats better, as for motor swap, this topic has come up like a million times lol. It all depends, many will say it's worth putting the zc in for a very affordable price and mod it with that extra money or directly drop in the b16 vtec motor. The price margin is quite high b/c the b16 costs more along with linkages, mounts, ecu , harness, etc etc while the zc is direct bolt in. I already have the zc, loved it for a bit but too slow for me now especially when 4th gens with b16's are flying by you and you can't keep up to them. If I were to ever do a swap again it wouldn't be a zc. But again, not saying the zc is a bad motor, it runs quite well and it's worth doing it especially if u have a dx.

That's one beautiful machine, only if I had that much cash to spare I would be all over that car

It sounds good, one day i'll take you for a rip in it, your in my area anyhow. In the rex the zc goes like .2-.3 secs faster b/c of the minor weight reduction it's got

CRX Si SE. The best CRX EVER released in Canada...
Last year there were 4 at N8.
Drop in an SiR and its as close as you're gonna get to the real thing (w/o doing the conversion)
I am in love with the spoiler.
