I wouldn't buy anything over e-bay. It's too easy to lie. Just buy things locally.

ive boughten many things from it..never a bad experiance...there are leagel protections and insurance...

most of the time, the stuff comes from the states. That means if you want to get a waranty on something, you have to send it back.

Most of the time, you can get the same stuff here, and if there'a a problem, you can go back to the store to deal with it in person.

The only stuff I would get from ebay, is really hard to get stuff.

Other than that, it's not worth the time....money....and surpise taxes that always seems to turn up.

I've used it only 2 times, but that's becuse I couldn't find the stupid part I wanted for my old car, here in Canada. I had to order it from the states.

My 2C's.

e-bay was good, but now there is nothing but PURE JUNK on there... all the ricer **** that nobody in their right mind will buy ends up on e-bay.

I use ebay all the time, but mostly to buy/sell other stuff. Bought something on there for the car and will never do that again. My suggestion is to buy it here if you can. The cost in my opinion work out to the same or better here when you factor in the shipping cost. Especially if they ship it by courier cause you have to pay that cost on arrival as well........

Like Pulovr said its only good for hard to find stuff. You can usually get better deals here after you factor in the sellers shipping rate and exchange (even tho the cdn dollar is like 76c US nowadays )

The item may seem cheaper but when you see what some people charge for shipping, you see how they make it back. 35US for a CAI, give me a break I shipped a 6 foot long R/C boat for 25 cdn so there costs are rediculously high.

I use E-bay once in awhile to buy model cars. I try to buy from Canadian vendors as often as I can (to save on shipping), but I do buy from U.S. vendors as well. Basically, make sure you know exactly what you are bidding on, and if it is exactly what you are looking for. Also, make sure you find a seller that has 100% or very close to 100% positive feedback.

Im looking for coilovers, buddyclub kit, rims, and axle back exhaust for an 91 crx si. What are my chances of getting a fair price on canadas ebay??? and what do i need to know about yankee vendors and their high prices hidden shipping charges??? i signed up and it says i'll get a application in the mail to confirm my address. Has anyone had to do this before?

I use ebay all the time.
Make sure the seller is a shop owner or business owner, and always remember to check his feedback.

Just be well educated on fraud and it's all good.

To see if a seller is trust worthy, just take a look at their feedback rating. If you don't like what you read, then simply don't buy.

Mainly coz of the astonomical shipping costs, a lot of stuff on ebay just isn't worth it. Especially after you factor in the taxes that get added on when it crosses the border! (I've bought stuff from the States a bunch of times, and have been nailed for taxes probably about 40% of the time... not that much, but it sucks nonetheless)

JdmCanadian 23-Oct-2003 11:07 PM

how much tax do they charge?

SpikeyLee 24-Oct-2003 11:44 AM

If you get nailed for taxes from customs, then this is how they do it:

Convert value of item from $US to $CAN + 15% tax and then tack on a $5 administration fee.

I can't believe that they tack on $5 to charge me for a service I didn't want them to perform in the first place. :p
