but if i can pay everythin off at once with the 20g i have in hand then i wouldn't be worryin about interest rates... i jsut don't know what model i can get with 20g, i was hopin somewhere around the top, can i talk the price down with dealers if i pay everythin at once with cash?

i'm sure civic will still have models in the low 20s or maybe even the high 10s like really close to the 20s already something like 19000.... but i think the Si will go to mid 20s to high 20s.....
even if civic will be 2000 more from now on starting from the 2006 due to its upgrades.... wait for 2006... all the 01-05 doesn't seem to give enough for what you're paying.... that's my opinion, but i've seen some people done their 01-05 nicely too...

do not get the 06 model.
its the first year of production after the entire vehicle had a makeover. which also could lead to problems. if your going for a updated look get the 07 model once they trouble shoot most of the problems incurred in the 06 model.
if you want a worry free car get the 05 since it was the last year of the 7th gen it would be technically speaking the best year of its generation.

buy a 5th gen for cheap and wait until the 06s come out . who knows maybe you'll fall in love with a 5th gen and dump all your $$ into it. but yeah as TR said, wait for the 07 because the first year always have all the bugs and stuff. DON'T buy a 7th gen, the 8th gens will be waaaaayyy better than the 7th.

Hey sportsforlife,
What is your definition of 20k? If you are looking for something for that price off the lot, you are looking at a basic '05 Civic... Why do I say that? How did I calculate that?
Well, tax in Ontario for a new car is 15%.
So, $20,000 before taxes becomes close to: 17,400.
You also have to pay A/C tax (if you get it), freight PDI and dealer administration fees. Oh yeah, licensing fees. Lets say, that's a total of $1,000.
Then, that brings you down to $16,400 before taxes.
I just checked the Honda Canada website and a Civic Coupe DX is $16,200. An SE is $17,300 both with manual transmissions.
So, even if you can get a deal on a Coupe SE, I think you will get close to the 20k mark.
'06? Maybe, but since pricing hasn't been announced, it might be difficult to get one under 20k. I also doubt dealers will be discounting at the beginning.
Now, if your criteria is 20k before taxes, PDI, etc, etc, I would go for an '06 (I don't think Honda will jack up the prices so much over the current ones) and be prepared to pay over $24,000 to get a car on the road. (BTW: 15% tax on $20,000 is $3,000).
Just adding my $0.02
