Repo Depo usually has cars that have been reposessed that are GOOD winter beaters.

Not only winter beaters but BOATS, RVs, TRAILER HOMES, motorcycles... even exotic cars.

what about older generation turbo RX-7's and Supra's? they are pretty quick for the money. they'd probably suck in the snow though.

5.0 I SO not a winter car, even without the fat tires.

I'm telling you CRX, those things are crazy fast too.

Get one for 3G, then if it's not fast enough, swap a B16 into for 3G+ and you'll have one of the fastest Honda's out there.

you know id so love to do a b16 swap in a civic or crx but the thing is i dont have that kind of money to buy a car and then swap a engine in it. i was loking for something straight out the box whats wrong about mustang 5.0's being winter cars anyways? everyone says that

5.0 too much power to the tires, too easy to break traction on warm ashphalt let alone cold snow covered icy road.

Comes with stock fat wheels, disperses wieght therefore doesn't cut the snow and sink to the ashphalt, think tobaggan vs skate.

Even if you do change the tire to a skinny winter tire the car is too heavy, poor control around corners. Fly into schoolkids waiting on the corner.

Rear wheel drive vs front wheel drive, RW = fishtales into bus shelter full of pregant women.

Passed tonnes of detroit muscle going up hills last winter.
5.0 and other muscle cars? summer only.

anything that is rear wheel drive and is fast would suck in snow. it's harder to push a car than it is to pull it up (fwd). i have this big hill near my house and everytime it snows all i see are RWD cars all stuck on the side of the road while all the FWD cars make it up.

That's not entirely true. My dad had a 1987 Mercedes 300 E, rear wheel drive, lots of power, and that car could make it up the hills on York Mills area in the worst snow storms no problem. That thing was a friggn tank. Even the 190 E my mom drove could plow through anything, also RWD, and no ABS or pwer steering.

But Mustangs do suck in the snow. My bro had an '87 Mustang GT, and he sold it after 1 winter. I still remember him taking like a half an hour one day just to get into the drive way cause he kept fishtaling and almost slamming into the giant F250 pickup next door (townhouse=shared driveway). Those cars have a huge power to weight ratio. The back end weighs nothing, and thats where all the power is. Even his 240 SX's (he's had 3 S13's and now has an S15) were all crazy in the snow. The good thing about rear wheel drive is yes it's easy to slide out, but it's also easy to get back if ur a decent driver. If you lose it in a front wheel drive ur kinda fucked.

try the classic car auction - particularly on friday night at the international centre in mid october - there are tons of good deals on older cars perfect for use as a winter beater in the $1000 to $3000 range - good luck

Agreed, however front wheel is harder to correct once understeer happens, unless you get fancy with the e-brake.

I'll take RW drive in the winter with snow tires any day.

Once front wheels lose traction, you've lost your steering, acceleration, and braking.

Easier to control in a straight line is FW drive however.

I've got a Mazduh 323, 1987 A3 that I have.

Needs a head-gasket change (I'm 90% sure). Anybody familiar with that kind of job here? I'd imagine it wouldn't be that tough.

I would love a 323 GTX. I would drive it all the time. You can make those things fly. I really want a Celica All Trac too. I missed 2 opportunities to get one for dirt cheap. You can get 300 HP on stock internals with that car.

I have a 1987 Mercur (if you know what that car is) for sale for 2500 bucks with 200,000 kms... it is in like mint condition.. not even rusted... ... it is certified.. emission tested already....
also it is a Turbo car and the Turbo runs mint...
it got new Yokohama H rated tires... and pretty much new brakes ...

it has a new windshield too.

it is fast.. around 170 HPs....

it has sunroof.. and so on...

if interested.. drop me an email.. and we can sort the price out.
