Need advice or opinions on a B20B/B16 tranny

Hey gays/gals. Im looking into buying a B20B or a B20Z motor for my EK. But i have some questions and need answers lol.

To start: Plan is to swap a B20B with a B16 LSD tranny into my 98 Hatch.

I have done some shopping around and have found that most shops charge between $350-$600 for a B20B. I havent found anywhere that knows what a B20Z motor is so i have no clue what those go for,or where to find them. The shops tell me they are JDM motors with low kms, in stock and are in excellent condition, but why the huge difference in price? Can anyone point me to a good shop that I can trust?

Also, Im thinking of going with a B16 transmission because (ive heard) its got the shortest gear ratio than any other Honda tranny. I was on Wikipiedia and found that there are tons of different trannys and combos. Some numbers I found was S03's and Y23's. Im wanting to put a Hydro LSD tranny in, but some have LSD and some dont. How can you tell what is what? Im a Nissan guy and when doing my tranny swap there were things that one can spot to differ if it was LSD or not. Any suggestions?

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

should be stamped as LSD also, if you look where axle would go, if you can see through it, then its open diff, if you cant then its LSD.

what you have to do when you go to the shop is either llok at the b20 manifold and the b20z (US 99-00) or B20B (JDM 99-00) should have a resonater on it adn if you look on the head to it should show the date. also if you want to go with the b16 setup, which i have right now, on the highway just be ready to cruise at around 4100rpm at 120kmh but it has goo pull through all gears. try for a gsr tranny first. and b20z will cost you about $750 up. good luck.
