MY SIR almost took the fall from this RAIN

well coming back from work guys,
i hit a big puddle that was on the LINC and went right through it, right now the car is spitting up a check engine code.

the car was sputtering but is no ok....
im gonna let the car sit for a bit so that AI can dry up but let me tell you what a scary scene!

man i hit the puddle so quick i had no time to stop b.c the SUV went through it too!

just had to vent, im a bit nervous!!
but who knows!

peace... who would of thought a bad rain storm

Though I'm no mechanic, I think you may just have fouled one of your sensors from the water.

Chigga1 26-Jul-2005 06:32 PM

thats exactly what i did man...

im going to get it checkd out!
thanks!

you think i should reset it??? or get it checked out?

hydrolock, pooched engine

imported_G2 Speed 26-Jul-2005 07:45 PM

let us pray..

bbarbulo 26-Jul-2005 08:10 PM

no man if it was sputtering then the code will just be a misfire code. it's not good for the engine, but it shouldn't have caused any damage. change your oil and reset your computer.

cibs 26-Jul-2005 08:10 PM

do you have a cold air intake?

cibs 26-Jul-2005 08:10 PM

:listen: and if it was fully hydrolocked the engine would have shut off

Cynikal.Mindset 26-Jul-2005 08:11 PM

it woulda more than shut off...woulda more like Banged off

imported_nsr250 26-Jul-2005 09:33 PM

Happened to me a few times , it may be that the intake sensor is sensing too much oxygen from the water and giving off the code. All i did was let it dry then reset the CEL and few hours later the car drove fine.

Chigga1 26-Jul-2005 10:16 PM

good news thus far

car runs fine, still has the code but the car is not sputtering.
i didnt hit VTEC incase of water on my filter... this is by far the worse case scenario i have been through with my ride... SNOW wont even compare to today!

ill get it checked out,
oil change, intake sensor and maybe reset the ECU!

thanks GUYS!
Mark

after today i might cut up my CAI and make it a short ram or custom make a ICEBOX using stock airbox and the AEM!:umbrella:

"rain rain go away come again some other day"

cee_mon 26-Jul-2005 10:18 PM

Reset the computer now and your good to go.

imported_MY SiR 27-Jul-2005 12:18 PM

From the title of this thread, I thought you were talking about me ;).

I hope your engine is fine. Do you have a CAI? Also, if you find, out, let us know what code you got.

Chigga1 27-Jul-2005 09:16 PM

ok the code is going to be reset...
the engine still runs great and thats it, thanks for the info,
no problems and no knocking of valves or anything.

thasnks

p.s bought the AEM bypass valve!
good to go
