My poor Civic Reverb!

My 05 Reverb was broken into on the drivers side door lock and chewed right out. Anyone know roughly how much it will cost to fix?.

Thanks

Mandie

Did the lock get damaged? Does the key still work? Is the handle damaged or the key hole area?

The newer Civics have a weird looking key with the teeth on the inside. It's very expensive to replace the locks and keys if the are lost or damaged. The key also has a chip in it that is part of the antitheft system. You might want to claim it. Comprehensive claims (damage, break-ins, thefts) generally don't affect your rates.

Oh, where did it happen so I don't ever go there?

Well they scratched my handle and chewed out the whole key hole. Yes I have laser cut keys, the key won't even go in the key hole. Can you believe they even spat on my window!. I don't think anyone on here will be parking there, I live out in BC now and it happened in my underground parking lot. I just want to know if it's going to cost more than my $300 deductible.

You could probably have the lock mechanism replaced for under $300, but if they had to replace all the locks, ignition and keys, that would be $$$$$.

Take it to a dealer for an estimate. You can always claim it after you get the estimate if it's more then $300.

Oh, on another note. How do you like it there? Where do you live? My wife and I might be moving to North Vancouver in the summer.

prolly fix it for under $300 I would imagine but with new laser cut keys I'm not sure if they can reconfigure the lock cylinder to your original key?

im pretty sure u will have to replace all the locks mandie, you do work at the dealership though so they can help you more than we can.
