Angry My parking lot rant.

So I'm at work and I go outside to check up on my car as I usually do. My car has been broken into a few times here, so I always park nice and close to the employee entrance and I check on it several times a shift.

I am parked at the end of the row with a curb to my driver's side and the yellow parking line about two feet away from the passenger side. What do I see when I walk up to my car? This piece of **** gold Ford minivan parked OVER the yellow line on my side about ten inches away from my car. I look down the side of my car and I see a nice dent about the size of a loonie in the top of my passenger fender just below the crease that runs down the side. It’s got gold paint in it, and right down to the bare metal.

So I’m pissed obviously. I have had the car for almost three years, and have yet to get any major dents or scratches until tonight. I ran the licence plate number through our employee database, and it turns out the van does belong to a fellow employee. So my supervisor talks to her, and she plays stupid. My supervisor tells her that I want some form of payment for the damage. She says she wants to see the damage. So as I’m outside taking pictures for the report I have to do, she comes strolling over. She says that she doesn’t think she did it, that there’s none of my paint on her door, and that her parking job was perfectly fine. She says that she doesn’t think that the dent looks very big and that she didn’t feel that she had to pay for it. I told her that I just wanted the dent pulled and some touch up paint applied so that it won’t rust. She says as long as it’s under $100 then she’d pay for it.

It’s not the fact that she was denying it, or even that she didn’t want to cough up some cash for a repair. It’s the fact that her van was a beat up piece of **** that she said she didn’t care about. Her ignorance is what pissed me off the most. If someone doesn’t care about their own property, that why would the care about someone elses.

Oh, does anyone know a good dent removal place?

Rant over, Thanks. Mike

Her company wouldn't pay for it, his would ... so in reality he would be making a claim, and he would have to get her insurance info to have her company notified ... she would not have a claim but would be held at fault and her premiums would rise ... just an FYI ..

did you ask her to open her door? that way you can see if the position of her door opening and the location of the dent matched up. (i guess she could've moved her car AFTER denting your car but i doubt she would've been smart enough to do that)

I thought so too. I'm not going to have it on my record for something that might only cost $100. After looking at it today in the sunlight, the dent isn't too bad, but the scratch is right down to the metal. I'm going to call around and get it fixed myself then I'll just give her the bill. If she refuses, I'll call her insurance company and tell them she hit me then took off.

i would just tell her if she doesn't pay in full then your gonna tell her insurance, hopefully that will scare her and she'll pay

But isn't the parking lot private property? if so then shes not responsible for the damage on your car. hopefully she doesn't know this
