I have a question. i recently bought a 1995 Honda Sedan. The ownership says CLS. what is a CLS. i know what trim levels there are for that year but i never heard of CLS.

My old civic read Si-x under ownership. It was an si. Not sure what they do with the trims at mto or what causes this.

Mine said Si-g and it was an SiR.

sorry to bring up a dead thread, but its mine... i'm trying to figure out what engine i have through the vin (the code on the block has worn off). everythign is good til i get to the 8th digit
VIN: JHMEG8587SS******

8th POSITION GRADE, 1994-1998
8 = Civic Si 3-door
8 = Civic LX w/ABS
8 = Accord DX 25th Anniv.Edition

my EG8 doesn't have abs so what do i have. i've done a bunch load of google searches and still nothing

Look at the engine block on the front near the left hand side on the exhaust manifold, below the head. There should be a flat spot with something like "D16Z6" stamped on it. You may have to wipe some dirt off if you can't see it. See link below.

got adventurous today.
good some heavy duty brake clean to the block and a scrub pad. result - D15b7
then called the local dealership. its a 1995 Civic LX Special Edition. thats why its a CLS "Civic LX Special Edition"
