Post motors online...having trouble

I want to buy a B20Z (CRV motor 99-00 i believe)...but not right at this moment! I'm just researching, getting prices and putting it together...I've checked all over the web which i seem to be handicapped at because I can only find about 5 engine importers, who only sell JDM engines...I'd preferably like to get it shipped from somewhere in Ontario or at least Canada to keep shipping costs down

can anyone point me in the right direction?

---and yes i know this gets asked, a lot...but I can't find a damn B20Z

just pick up a B20B and slap B20Z pistons in there. did u try jdmcustoms.com? their prices includes shipping in north america so shipping wont be an issue i guess.

is that the only difference between the two motors?

the only reason why the z puts out better numbers than the b is because of the higher compression ratio. so just slap the z pistons in and you'll be right up there with the z.

FYI, B20Z is a USDM engine, not a JDM.

if you pick up a 99-00 B20B it is the same as the 99-00 b20z USDM model

Yes, but if you get a B20B JDM it is very close to a B20Z USDM. Give Teknotiks a call, they are our affiliate. I did the same research as I was going to get one too

i just checked out a couple sites i found...and they all rate their "JDM B20B's" at 126 hp...

the Z's are rated at 146...bit of a difference...unless they're selling the USDM models, which are 126 ponies i dont want.

well what are your goals? NA build on the B20 or turboing it? you'll end up getting newer and higher compression pistons if your going to go NA but turbo wise i wouldn't even consider getting a B20 for boost. the only difference is the compression ratios of the two motors i think. which is why one motor yields higher numbers.

not going turbo. I'm just going for a decent perfoming street car...and my definition of decent performing is anything that can pull a decent mid-high 14 second 1/4 mile. They also run on 87 octane, which was took into consideration.

basically the B20 swap to me seems like a pieced together B18 swap...so, its also an easier motor to work with.

budget is max $3000...which i should be well under

meSIR thanks for the link

B20 info

I found a few B20Z at local junkyards a couple weeks ago. Price ranged from $1000 to $1500.

The $1500 engine was fully tested, ie. compression etc.,

$3000 max.. hmm almost H22A range if you do the work yourself.

Oh.. The only real price difference between 87 and 91 gas is about $5 max per fill up.

woaaahh woaah...says right in the link "the b20Z needs the knock sensor to run safely with regular gas"

ah, more confusion...maybe It would be a lot easier getting a B18B/gsr tanny...and toss on a set of crower cams

Have you met any B20 94 coupe owners who are doing mid 14s? With a stock engine?

It's gonna take more the just a small build and 87 octane to run 14s.

a high 14 second civic with a B20 swap with the usual bolt ons is typical. Although I can only go by what i've read on honda-tech. I'd love to have a sit down in one to see what it's really like.

and lets not turn this thread into a debate...ive got the links to help me out now...thanks everyone
