Hold on, there. I never said it was smart to put 20000 bucks into a Civic, did I? LOL... I was just saying I don't think that it's solid criteria to designate a person as an *******. But I will give you this about your last point, it DOESN'T MATTER what age you are with respect to dumping that kind of money into a car. It's either cool/stupid/whatever based on what you want to believe. It's not age related.

i think this guy is totally being an a**
IF A GUY in his 30's is driving a civic who cares. man i laugh more at you if you were in your 30's driving a minivan or some lame grand-am or etc, that looks like everyone else in this world.
at least with a modded civic it doesnt look like other ppls.

its a car, sure other priorites come into play down the road of life and you may purchase another car but some ppl keep their old civics as a side hobby...and others that sell..i'm sure one day will be regretting their decision and will belike most mid-life-crisis men out there today....LOOKING FOR THEIR FIRST CAR

we as civic owners mod our crs to make it our own...
we make it an original to us and put our personality into it, basicaly making a reflection of us...
sure we might like ideas of other civcs and put them in our own, but the end result is an original civic which we/you havre created for yourself/ourselves...
i have never seen a civic like another, there are always differences...

I do believe that modding your car is an art and that what ever you drive is up to your liking because you have to drive it everyday. If you love your car, who cares what others think? But if you are in a business suit and mid 40's or something it may leave a bad impression on co workers of employers if your car is riced-out and all. But then again if you like it, who has the right to judge.

This goes for everything else in the world. Buying expensive clothing to impress other people, expensive purses/bags, shoes, cars, houses, watches, glasses, electronic devices, TV, DVD, home theatre.... etc

The question is, out of the 6 billion human beings on this small planet, how much do you want to stand out from the rest of them? The only thing that sells in this world is "attention".

A smart person will get attention in school, the typical straight A student. Whether he likes it or not, he will get attention. School will give him awards, students will look up to him and talk about him. Later, fame comes with it, he is the popular one so on and so forth.

A good looking person will receive attention. He will get discovered by star hunting agencies and some day becomes a movie star.

Even a poorly dressed person gets attention, because everyone is looking at him and talk about how stupid he lookd. Hey, he is the one getting all the attention, you, are just a talker that points finger and yet, receives zero feedback.

William Hung, can't sing jack, gets all the attentions. He is the opposite of good looking, good voice, good dancer, good dresser and what does he get? Fame and attention.

It all comes down to how much attention you want to get. And sometimes, it is hard not to get any. So you want to blend in and drive a regular car, like everyone else. You think you will blend in just fine? No. You will still receive attention because there is a rust spot on your car, your car is a domestic POS, your car has a funny colour, you didn't close your door properly, your car is so damn dirty from salt, you are driving too slow, you are driving too fast.....

I will be honest, I want attention. I want some, but I am not seeking them. I want people to look at my car, but I am not getting attention with loud music, or a bright colour body. I am not getting attention by cutting in and out of the traffic. I want people to look at my car, naturally, like how they look at other cars on the road, but give mine 1 extra second attention, a second look if you will. Just a pulse and say: "mmm, there is something different about this one"

That's all.

I see lotsa asian ppl driving really expensive cars, so money they have... but when you go to chinatown, you see the lack of class. And their cars are always dirty. That's lack of class. No offense to the classy asians of course

Do what ever your heart desires. I'm in my early 30's and have been into "modding" Honda's(CRX) for a couple of years now and can see myself doing it for years to come cause I'm having fun doing it. The way you mod your car is a reflection of who you are. I choose the more clean oem style of things while others may choose a more radical approach. To me there is nothing immature looking about a nicely modified import at all. Have fun with it...Just my .02 cents.

Show or Go. Pick your poison. Each group thinks the other is wasting there money. Either way it eats your money. Thats why you have to be devoted. The guy who say's modding car's is juvenile probably blow's big money on a vacation And leases a new car every two years .To me thats wasting money.Purely a hobby, But if you love it. Go for it. I hate Horses but some people are passionate about them and spend big money on having one. Which I can't understand. Same with people who can't understand us dumping money into an Economy car. Who care's. You only live once.
