the method i am about to post is a little more difficult, which is to see if there are any mar on the teeth on the side if the number wheel.
one other is that a lot of these jobs are done by people that works in the shops, and if they didn't wash their hand prior to the job, then there will be finger marks on the back of the gauge cluster, but obviously you need to take out the cluster to see.
i did remember seeing a nissan, forgot the model, it's got thin piece of clear pastic the goes over the teeth in between the numbers. it seems like the plastic is very flimsy, but under normal circumstances, they should be intact. that's one thing to keep in mind if buying a nissan without the digital odometer.

Is it just me, or is it really easy to tamper with the odometer? I mean if you really wanted to you can tamper with the current one or if you want to be clean with it, you can even pick up another odometer from a wrecker that has less KM's on it or buy one off of ebay that has less KM's. That's why in my above post I said as far as I know.

actually, if you've ever tried flicking the odometer, you'll notice that it's quite hard to do, and since it's plastic, you'll be afraid to apply too much force to flick the wheel cos you are f#cked if you break a tooth off it.
also, i would assume if you want to roll yours back, you would have planned it ahead since you need to indicate your "kilometerage" when you renew your plate.

Proud to be the 4th Gen. Owner!
BTW, one of my Accord has 273219 Clicks (1990 EX-R), still in pretty good shape, still driving 170+ km/h all the time!
I am that kind of guy who likes to keep the car for over 10 years!
