I saw another guy come in once and ask to get a key made, (lookd like a punk), and wanted to get a key made for a new SIR. Parts guys asked for ID/ownership and something else (I think the wanted to know where he bought the car), the guy said the papers was in the car, and that he had bought the car in Montreal. They told him..."no papers....no key". The guy kinda got pissed and walked out. If it was a car thief, he'll just contiue onto another dealer......I bet he will eventualy find one that will do it for him. Shame.

Friend in parts told me that almost EVERYDAY, he get's 1 or 2 people trying to get keys made without the nessesary paper work.

Be careful everyone.....all it takes is one time, and your baby will be gone.

I WISH HONDA WOULD CRACK DOWN ON THIS KINDA ****!!!!

There is a way to fuqk over a thief (or at least slow him down).......get an extra set of locks from a scapped car, and change them. Doors and trunck/hatch. Might be a bit of a pain to have different keys for the door and ignition, but I think it would be a BIGGER pain to find out your car is gone.

My 2C's.....
There is no way they can crack this.

IT"S ALL ABOUT INSIDE JOB

Enuff people have friends working from a dealership and they can just go "Hey can you make me a key" Show him $300 and there you go done and deal...

So i think there is no way you can stop it.

Best thing is get an alarm a good one and that makes the thieves think twince b4 they steal your car.

If you have a decent alarm, even if the thieves have a key it's useless without a remote!

But sometimes they dont' want the car, they want what's inside.

If Honda set up a program simular to Mercedes, it would crack down on this kind of crap.

They have to order the key directly from the factory, and they will ONLY do this if the owner of the vehicle has all the nessessary papers. No if and's or but's about it. Have you called to see how much a key for a resent model of Mercedes cost's? I have. Let's just say they aren't cheap. Boss almost had a fit.

And when I called for him, the guy's at the dealer wanted to know my name, address, vin, where I got the car, if the car was mine.......ect....ect....ect......and even after all of that, they told me that I had to come in with the owner of the vehicle IN PERSON before they could help me any futher.

HONDA......TAKE THIS AS A HINT!!!!!

AT LEAST KEEP A RECORD OF THE KEYS SOLD, COPIES THE WERE MADE AND WERE INCORRECT, REASON FOR A COPY MADE, VIN OF THE CAR IT IS MADE FOR, OR IF THE DUPLICATE WAS JUST PLAIN FUBARED.

I don't think none of this is true, maybe for Honda, I agree.

I also have a Toyota, it comes with a key number, very different from VIN#. It is specific that the owner must show the key number, it's a very small plate only the owner know it, if you sell your car, you have to pass it on to the buyer according to the law.

Also, that is why you get a car imobilizer - car alarm, it helps with insurance also (lower insurance, a bit). If the theift opens the door, the alarm would come on - Turns the egine on, it wouldn't turn on, the car can't go anywhere. Can't disconnect the battery either, becuase once the battery in connect again, the alarm would go off even louder. Spend $280, it is cheaper then getting you car stolen.

I am afriad of getting my mods stolen not the car. People only go after old cars, because they are easy, no one could take new cars. Luxury cars usually have micro-chip in their keys, it costs alot to get it replaced and they usually comes with great security, theives would not spend hundreds on a key that won't start the car. Most Mec., BWM, Jaguar etc... leave their windows down and won't even care, I am saying that becasue I have seen many. You can call any luxury car dealers to confirm.

If you are really worry, install a camera in your garage or some thing.

Don't worry, just worry about the mods, those are easy to take.

if you have read the threads maybe a month or two month ago, someone's civic was jacked and they had one of the best alarms,
because theives they know what to do now adays, immoblizer, they can still bypass that, if you serach under my name I went to a mitsuibishi dealer and the guy there got his RSX stolen type S! And if Im correct those have immoblizer, and also he had a alarm, no signs of evidence.

Umm... this is old news... first time I locked my keys in, I was like wow, I could ask for a key to any car?! LOL I never did anything with my newfound knowledge, but apparently someone else did.

Pulovr, as an example when we were looking for a car for your friend the other day at the kiosk in the mall we ran a vin well if the car we looked at had plates we could have run that too to get the vin and you know how much info we pulled off that car we even spoke to previous owners that day hell we could have asked them if they had a spare key ...for 300 bucks I'm sure they wouldn't care what happened since they sold the car already and as for defeating the vin thing ...get locks from a junkyard that has a key with them replace all locks without the dealership knowing and bam you've invalidated the info that honda has ....properly protect other weaknesses in your car and everything is cool.... just remeber to keep a spare key embedded in your shoe or something ...just in case

I have some ways to make a thiefs job harder.

First and simple u can just pull the igntion fuse out everytime u parked. is just located under the dash. Pretty easy and it work.

Second, U can just buy 2-3 on/off switches from radioshack or somewhere else. Hook it up to the fuel pump power wire which usually located under ur rear seat for most honda. after just hook it up to another on/off switch and so on.........depends how many switches u want..u can mix up the on/off position by hook it up power wire to ground n ground wire to power for each switch pass.. that way u have a combination of ur own. u can simply put all the switches side by side or different location. Just have to remember ur combination otherwise the car will just crank but not start because there are no fuel going in to the engine.
Hope this help u guys out a little...

An easier way would be to use a switch with a relay, to shut off the current to the starter or ignition system, but this won't stop the "smash and grab" thief.

Also keep your belongings OUT OF SGHT. What do excpect to happen when you leave a sun visor filled with CD's?.......think what the thief is thinking..... "well, if they has CD's in there, that means they has a CD player.....and chances are they also has an amp and speaker box too." [I] ......ect....ect....ect.....

Short of sleeping in your car every night, you can't always be there to protect your car....that is why a PROPERLY set up pager alarm with a few EXTRA toys can give you a little more peace of mind.

Holy **** I didn't know about this!!!

I'll go cover up my VIN# right now, but since it is illegal to have it covered up I won't use tape. I think the pass I use at work should do just fine.
